Detroit has such a rich history. We love Detroit.
I love this. I grew up in Detroit. Later moved 240 miles to the north to Cadillac MI. Thanks for sharing
I drive for Lyft and Uber snd travel just about everywhere over Detroit almost daily. Definitely an interesting city AND coming back up!
Other than the pronunciation of "Pottawattomee" (POTT-ah-WOTT-ah-mee) this was a good introduction to Detroit. Being born and living my entire life in Detroit, I'm pleased to see this interest in my city.
Gratiot = "Graa-Shut"
Thank you... I love maps of Detroit
Thanks for sharing your map and history of Detroit! Interesting!
Thanks for sharing. I live in Pontiac. The history and lore intrigues me.
We have a lot of French named roads that we have Americanized. One of those is Gratiot (gra-shot).
I love how you said Gratiot I never thought of it being French😂
What about the Detroit treaty of 1807? It was this treaty while so many Indians joined the British fight for the war of 1812.
Really nice content!
DÉTROIT! SO INTERESTIN’
Troit in French means narrow. Detroit literally mean The Narrow. It was the named either because the Detroit River was narrow or late Erie narrowed into a river there.

I skimmed through. Did you mention the Fire of 1803??
Hi, Gratiot is pronounced "GRA-shit-- (like 'yeah' but with a 'gr' instead of 'y' in front). also, you may want to know these pronunciations: Livernois = LIV-er-noise, Cadiux = CAD-joo, Dequindre = de-KWIN-der, -- love your video!!!
I grew up on the Detroit River near wyandotte and trenton. I've always wanted to see how it looked back in the 16 and 17's
Nice pics
I had a feeling the French took over, so that’s why my family’s last name is in French but I’m pretty sure we’re mostly native and black
