Detroit Files: Calvin 'Doc' Stephenson - Part 1 - The Magic Tones

This installment of The Detroit Files comes from Calvin, who tells of his time with The Magic Tones, a group that began in Inkster - 20 miles southwest of Detroit - in the late 1950s. The group's first recording was in the early sixties and while members came and went, Calvin remained and recorded for Mike Hanks's Wheelsville USA label, then Ram-Brock and back with Mike at MAH'S, when, in 1968, the group enjoyed success with 'Together, We Shall Overcome'. Part 2 continues through the Westbound recordings and then hears Calvin recall his time working with Norman Whitfield at Motown in the 1970s.
