Yes, so many go through life as if comparing it to some grand race. The objective being to be the first across the line, but as Alan Watts said: what if life were not a race, but a dance? The purpose of the dance wasn’t to end up at a certain point in the room, though that will happen, but the act of expression in the moment that made you create something new: movement, thought, feelings.

The one thing I always found nice is the relationship that Carl and Markus had together. Carl never treated Markus like property, but more like his son and friend. Sometimes I wish I had an android like Markus. I know I would treat him more like a friend and someone that I can talk to. I would have a lot less lonely days in my life.

The role of full-time carer for someone with significant physical movement disabilities is a very big and demanding role at the best of times. Even if you had full control over whether you were to take on such a role for someone, the autonomy of your choice does nothing to make the role a smaller task. Well, Markus didn't choose. As nice a human being as Carl was, Markus looked after Carl and no choice in that matter. Plus, with Carl's condition as it is, Markus probably had to handle a lot more chores out in public, like picking up the paint. When even just collecting a pre-arranged order of paint gathers Markus as much hostility as it did that one time, I think his anger having personal feeling and experience behind it was completely reasonable. Not just those active situations, too - passive ones reinforce your place in society just as much, and the game frequently did show examples of segregation, including literally classic passive tactics, like segregation on buses (e.g. those standing only 'android compartments')

I love how Markus’ voice has emotion comparing the one at the paint shop and others on park. We know he has much more emotion than others right after you stay playing the game.

For some reason I'd totally pay for a DLC of where its just Markus and Carl...
