That was a surprise to me, I realized after the video I never set the buffer screw.:) I turned in out by 1/2 an inch for the tune up and didn't have to reset it.:) Thanks for watching.

We have to order Delo 100 or T1 down here in the Southeastern U.S. It’s not stocked anywhere anymore.👍

I used to order the T1 as well, but a local store now stocks it.:)

You have the best detroit vids. Do you have any setting the gap for idle? I have a 353 that dies at idle when steering the wheels load.

Thanks, I don't have one for setting the gap. .002"-.004" @ 1100-1300 rpm. I'll do one when I finish installing the 2-53 into my forklift. Been meaning to do one for the sw-vs governor.:) For the DW-LS I've used both the running method and the static tool to set it. Both work well.:) Thanks for watching.:)

@detroitgarage9430 The one I have is a DW LS. Gov #5107132. I've never tried with it running or a static tool. If you rebuild for customers, maybe we'll send some to you!

nice vid especially on the valve and inj height, but not much detail on setting the racks. Do you have a better vid on that? or could you make one or direct me to some good instruction? thanks

How do you get more power out of these

Depending on how much power you need they can make around 60 HP with a good tune up and injectors. I have mine tuned to around 35-40 HP for the forklift.

I noticed you set the governor gap when the engine was not running. Can you set the gap on a limiting speed governor the same way? The service manual states to hold the rpms between 800-1000 while setting the gap but it’s very challenging and I’m hesitant to attempt to adjust it.

On a LS governor you set the gap with the engine running. There is a tool that was made to set the gap while engine was not running. I use the static tool mostly as the results are the same as doing it with the engine running.:) I'll check today and see what the static gap is.:)

@@detroitgarage9430 thanks! We have a commercial boat powered with 4-53’s and I believe we need to adjust the governor on one of the engines because the rpms bog down under idle load. From my research it sounds like a gap adjustment but I’m nervous to attempt it.

@@doorcountybywater Yes, that sounds like the symptoms. It's not such a big deal to set the gap, you just have to mind the engine rpm.:) I would recommend a full tune up before you set the gap.
