Traffic sign detection and recognition has become a trending topic in computer vision due to the interest of the industry, the advances in computer vision methods and the reduced costs of vision sensors. In Vicomtech we are working on the methods for the detection, tracking and recognition of traffic signs in road sequences. One of the most important aspects that conditions the design is its applicability in real scenarios, like the one shown in the video, in which the illumination conditions vary significantly from one frame to another. We have applied latest developments on illumination compensation as well as advanced classification methods to improve the robustness and efficiency of our algorithms.
