Hello Hans. Very nice to watch a new video from you. It has been a while since the last one. Hope all is well for you. Nice new spade and thanks for the info about the supplier. You were lucky enough to have friends making it as a gift for you. It is really an expansive tool and I will consider to invest only when both spades I use at the moment will be broken (hopefully not before long). Your Goldfield is still generous and I expect that potatoes crop will have turn the soil up side down sufficiently to reveal new treasures (otherwise, how two tumbak buttons this size could have dodge your previous searches ?). Well, I think I will know soon enough about your successful finds, right? Wish you all the best. Tschuss.

thank you, I'm happy to hear that :) I mostly use the gmp- program and I make adjustments according to the conditions of the respective fields I detect. I haven' got fix settings that i use all the time. thank you for watching!

Coat buttons, they would have probably had a leather cover over them either a weaved pattern or just a full-on piece of leather wrapped around. That might even go for the ones that actually have detail on them depending really on the weather of the area they found them in. If it tends to be more of a colder climate they would most likely be leather wrapped. Apparently one of the reasons why you don't see too many Tomback buttons with Fancy on them is because they would have been covered with cloth and that's where you would have found the fanciness.

It's wonderful to see you out detecting again Hans and what a great start. 2 roman coins and the tombac buttons plus the piece of a fibula broach and the final surface find the little figure which is quite beautiful. I loved the shot of the dragon fly spreading its wings and the wild flowers, that is something I miss walking around the fields and looking at the different creatures and plants. I show them everything of relevance .. fortunately they agreed on handing over all substantial finds to the department of archaeology. the farmers I know are extremely cool and kind guys!

Welcome back Hans. I find a lot of those Tombak buttons on my permissions in the UK; they are very common finds, mainly because in the 18th / 19th century they ended up in fertiliser. Old clothes were dismantled and the threads made into 'shoddy', which were poor quality new clothes. The seams that held the buttons, and the fly seam on trousers, including the buttons attached, were discarded and put into fertiliser. Small four-hole fly buttons are even more common - I have at least 200 of them!
