Detailed Volvo C40 Recharge Review in 4K- One Approachable Crossover EV That Grew on Us
Hi everyone, we give our enthusiast perspective in this comprehensive review of the new Volvo C40 Recharge. The Volvo C40 Recharge sprints to 60 in just 4.7 seconds and we put that to the test as demonstrated in the beginning of this review. At $61k, this is one of Volvo's first all-electric crossovers before the $7,500 EV tax credit.
I got to say the build quality and overall drivetrain were on point in this Volvo C40 Recharge. We found the ease of driving, the quietness of the cabin, and just overall build quality to be a real positive spot. One negative is that the Volvo C40 Recharge only has a stated range of 223 miles which puts it on the lower end when compared to the Tesla Model Y or new Kia EV6. However, that does not mean the Volvo C40 Recharge is not worth some serious consideration.
We really enjoyed the feeling of driving the Volvo C40 Recharge. Beyond the instant acceleration that all EV cars have, the steering and suspension just made the car feel lively and frankly fun. We took the Volvo C40 Recharge down some of our favorite back roads and while it's no sports car, it more than held its own. I really think Volvo nailed the drivetrain, brakes, and suspension, especially considering they have only recently started down the EV path.
Another good point was the interior from the vegan soft leather to the Android Auto which actually works really well. I also liked the simplicity of the cabin in the Volvo C40 Recharge. It did not have an overwhelming amount of technology or screens like some of its competitors have (aka EQS580). In fact, between the interior and ease of driving, I think the Volvo C40 Recharge is the most approachable EV on the market yet.
In this Volvo C40 Recharge review, we spotlighted the exterior, interior, did a launch, demonstrated ane keeping technology, and took a POV drive. We also took the Volvo C40 Recharge to an Electrify America station to show you the charging capabilities which was a little underwhelming, to be frank. My only concern with getting this Volvo C40 Recharge is the range, and if Electrify American cannot change past 100 kWh an hour that will make road trips longer.

Awesome review! In addition to this review, here’s my real life tried and tested experience as a cybersecurity geek as well as a 2 kiddo dad, husband and Volvo enthusiast! (Former Car: 2004 Volvo XC90 2.5T FWD with climate and versatility package and 7 seater; sold April 2022).🔥 Being a C40 owner since January of 2022, I have 7 months of EV driving experience and hope to continue and keep this fine EV for years to come. 1. Gush at the Fjord Blue color and my next favorite being Fusion Red.🔥 2. The drive is beyond smooth, quiet, fun and absolutely fast (Dual Motor; 408 HP, 78 KWH battery).💥 3. Apple CarPlay through software update 2.2 works really well, albeit a few issues here and there. Always unplug your phone after you finish driving.☝ 4. The space for my 6’1” tall son and 5’7” daughter in the back is absolutely right. Now I don’t feel the need to have a 7 seater SUV like an XC90.😇 5. I am 6’ tall and could slightly afford to have a little more headroom, but when I get inside the car, I feel like I am getting ready to hit a race car rally! 🙂. 7. Time and time again I feel I lacked space in the trunk, but I am proven wrong because I can finish three grocery runs (today: Costco, Kroger and a local grocery outlet for special items). I can stash into my second row seats as well as pack up my cargo hold with no issues. 8. The Harmon Kardon system is top notch, much better than my 13 speaker Bose 305W surround sound in my XC90. Nicely plays Apple iTunes, Spotify and Sirius XM. I have a broad variety of music channels and taste that runs in my family and I can cater to all of them. 9. Super pleased with my Volvo dealership and their ability to deliver the C40 and get it ready within 4 hours for me to take home was beyond thrilling. Loved 🥰 the Volvo hospitality! 10. August 2022- getting a new windshield replaced due to a lack of workmanship from TN Tint when fixing my windshield tintstrip. It resulted in two error messages on collision and driver safety. Part was ordered and I hope to get it fixed within a week. No issues driving however! NEVER FIX A Windshield Tint strip, due to to the defogger/heater elements right in the center of the windscreen. 11. Getting ready to do a trip check end of August for a road trip to Dallas on earth September! 12. Family, friends and loved ones love the color and the ride so far. Nothing but compliments and proudly the only C40 running in a major southern metro! I haven’t see a single C40 in cities like Austin, Atlanta, Philly, Wichita, Orlando, Tampa, Bradenton, Sarasota, Longboat Key, St Petersburg, Nashville through my spring and summer travels! Sexy, Sophisticated, Suave, thrilling, beautiful and a well designed coupe SUV for a family that drove the XC90 for 18 years! - you’ll love it! ❤⭐💥🤩

Hi Vikram I’ve recently ordered a C40 and I’m really looking forward to its arrival. My only concern is the panoramic roof. Since you’ve had the car for 7 months… what are your thoughts on the glass roof? Does it let in a lot of sunlight ? Does it get hot inside the car?

@@nazikchaaraoui8405 The glassroof is tinted and doesn’t get sunlight or warmth. I have a sunshade over the glassroof that makes it even cooler and blocks off the sunrays further. You’d love the C40. Congrats and all the best on the wait!

@@nazikchaaraoui8405 In the USA and had to wait 7 months from order to delivery. It really depends on your region/zip code and the availability of C40 inventory!
I just got my C40 Recharge Ultimate about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. I actually enjoy driving every day now. Absolutely fantastic EV.

The car looks especially attractive with your filming location and time of day, with sunlight filtering through the trees, at the beginning and end of the video. It was only on second viewing that I noticed evidence of a humanoid in the "cool montage" (28:50).

It is interesting you own multiple Teslas if you consider yourself an enthusiast as the main reason people buy those is to have the car drive for them while they sleep or use their phone

Absolutely - Tesla’s (and most EV’s including this C40) are fun to drive when you want to, but the self driving is clutch when you don’t - like the longer highway drives to a meeting or family trips. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.

I’ve done over 60k miles in Tesla’s autopilot now, you definitely still have to pay attention. Have prevented a few close calls.
Good review, however you missed mentioning how many miles can one drive on pure electric. Other reviewers report 42 to 52 miles. Thanks

Thanks for responding. I get it that C40 is not a hybrid but a pure EV. What is the real-life range of this EV?
It is a luxury car! Lol 60 grand.
The tax break has been extended. Hooray
The reduced charging at 72% is perfectly normal. These cars will only hit 150 kW charging speed between 10 - 35ish% and it will then decline. Has nothing to do with the charger.

Well they need to pick that up, Kia EV6 and Taycan among few others can hold sustained higher charging longer.

@@Driven-Productions yes, faster is always better but the C40 is still among the better ones in this regard. The total charging curve really isnt that bad. Also Volvo still sends software updates to improve this.
Sorry Volvo is from Sweden, not Switzerland…. If you can’t understand the difference just say Europe…

My man this would make the perfect dad car. In fact, most of the ones sold have been to men I hear at least locally.
My 2023 Volvo C40 has a steering wheel that vibrates very badly, making it quite annoying and UNSAFE to drive, and Volvo doesn’t want to fix it. Lemon Law

@@eloneatmyshorts I have the freedom to share my experience anywhere anytime, if you don’t like to see it just get off here. Experience sharing works a lot better and faster than any legal action. Volvo already bought back my C40 and I got 100% money back, my case is closed.
