    I've been living in Japan for 30~some years... up here in the countryside your kei truck is like your calling card. Easy to see who's coming from afar. :-) Just replaced my old DB51T (1990) with an '04 63T, the difference is staggering... really improved. Not a big fan of the soulless e-power steering, but it is what it is. One-owner and about the same km's as yours (23k/km) really mint. Runs and drives like new. Installing a new stereo system: there is provision for speakers in the doors but you're gonna have to drill baby drill, at least on my HD-spec farm version they never envisioned the ojisans rocking out. lol. Nothing insurmountable. Tweeters for the dash. Nice videos, great to see the perspective from That Side. Cheers.

    A local charity organization (MS Society) that runs a bike-a-thon used a handful of these mini-trucks and vans to sweep bike trails (crashes, falls, flat tires) hauling bikes (tie-downs helpful) and riders to next rest stop (normally 10-miles apart) for repair or transport.

    That single-DIN radio looks like it could be replaced with a double-DIN simply by sacrificing the little storage compartment below it. I'd run a small amplifier behind the seat, and there are lots of places for a set of decent stereo speakers.

    Just an FYI. All North American radios are made to tune to even frequencies. Such as 560 kHz, 756 kHz, etc. Everywhere else, radios are made to tune to odd frequencies. Such as 559 kHz, 755 kHz, etc. There’s many opinions why; however, it is a Ham Radio thing from the early days of of Radio in general. Certain frequencies will perform in a prolific way should the “Band” Conditions be good. And that varies due to Sun Spot conditions, Ionosphere conditions, etc. That’s just scraping the surface. But during these conditions sometimes day or night, Radio Stations in North America and in the EU Countries will interfere with one another if they shared the same frequency. Therefore the offset is necessary to prevent such interference, although the frequencies would be more like USA 560 MHz, and the EU would be 557 MHz; thus eliminating any interference regardless of the time of day or night. KC5FTT; Wesley Kicker

    Thanks for the video. I'm just starting to look at these K trucks ( I think that's the slang for them). Anyways can give an idea on how survivable they are at highway speeds? I see that some say they are a death trap. Are there any models that work at highway speeds at all? I'm thinking that is a limitation from the Japanese government.

    I'm not sure but I think this fellow is in Canada. You can get mini trucks in the USA, imported from Japan, but they all have to be over 25 years old minimum. There are dealers in the east coast (New Jersey) and west coast (Washington) who specialize in the importation of Japanese RHD vehicles.

But I would like a video done going through the complete process of purchasing a mini truck from Japan from dealership and the importation shipping and clearing customs and all taxes and duties to legally bring one of these vehicles into this country! I believe there’s a 25% customs clearance tax alone on the total purchase price of one of these trucks! Is this true?

  • @4sonsoffroad

    @4sonsoffroad

    5 жыл бұрын

    This is because there is no such thing as LHD Japanese mini trucks. The ones you see in Quebec (and elsewhere) have been converted from RHD to LHD. If you saw what they had to do to convert them you would feel safer in a RHD. The ones out of the Philippines are mostly converted as well. We really focus on the Off-road market anyway as the bigger issue with these on the roads is that they are only 50hp not that they are RHD
