Detailed Mercedes-Benz S580 Review w/ Owner - The Car That Ministers To Your Soul & Senses

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As most likely the last generation Twin-Turbo V8 S Class to be made, this $157k spec was absolutely dropping in luxury sedan opulence. Give this video a play, I sure found the edit entertaining as Gabriel demonstrates all the features. Having said that, I would totally daily drive this car. I just had no idea how incredible Mercedes is making these machines today. I thought the 2018 S Class E63 AMG was great, but this is just the next evolution of awesome.
We will miss the twin-turbo V8 496 hp and 516 torque in this Mercedes S580, surely to be the last years of the ICE engines. Which really is a shame, considering it gets 30 MPH and has a 600+ mile useable range. No EV can match range and livability like that. But, no premium gas is nice, plus an EV is still smoother and faster even though the dual-clutch is smooth and the overall performance available is solid. As Gabriel said, you can take a 9-hour trip and arrive refreshed. No EV is going to do that currently, not without one or two long charging stops.
Now the Mercedes S580 has one beautiful interior. White on Red is also one of my favorite specs, but other than maybe Audi, Aston, and Bentley, I've not seen a nicer interior. In fact, this Mercedes S580 may be the best interior design I've ever seen. It's the perfect combination of old school class and new school technology. Like how you can still adjust the air vents manually, or use voice control to activate the massage function.
Overall, the 2023 Mercedes S580 is a refined luxury car. Inside and out, it's just a pleasure to drive. So what they depreciate hard, or run on expensive premium gas. Do we really care? I choose to live in a world where if someone wants to drive the most luxurious luxury sedan in the world, all the power to them.
We do hope you enjoy our Mercedes S580 thoughts. I thank Gabriel for sharing his ride, which frankly is a hard car to get delivered today with the chip shortage. As you can imagine, this thing uses a ton of chips.
Unfortunately, Bryan was unable to complete his edit for the weekly drop. We wish his mom a speedy recovery. Forget me I did my best with the intro working with limited software.
Thanks again for watching and see you next week. See you on the road.
Rise above,
Adam

@@seansiew5629 Yes, I sat in both the Flying Spur and the S580, the S580 was definitely more spacious in both front and back especially if you are a bigger guy. The front seats in the S580 are an engineering marvel and can fit anyone from 4'9" to 7'3". The Flying Spur is very beautiful and opulent while the S580 is more conservative and business like. I did not drive them and I'm sure the Flying Spur is faster and sportier especially with the W12. I've heard they're both super comfortable to drive, Bentley may have the edge. The Flying Spur is based on a Panamera platform and simply cannot have the same interior volume as the S580. You can't go wrong with either the Bentley or the S580, they're both awesome cars. You may consider buying both the S580 and the Flying Spur and use the S580 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and the Bentley on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday (Buy a Ferrari or Porsche for Sunday). If you want something very roomy and cheaper than the Bentley but extremely powerful, wait for the new AMG S63, that should be a monster.

So I can absolutely relate to the 11+ Mercedes Benz thing as I've just turned 22 and I'm on my 3rd Mercedes Benz so far in my life and a drivers permit and it is currently a NEW $285,620 preorderd 2023 Maybach S 680 V12 and my parents have both each had around 15 brand new Mercedes Benz so that is a total of 32 NEW freaking cars in the last 15 to 20 years AT LEAST we got into crashes in 2 of them but we still have all remaining 30 of them on top of that we have bought around 10 used Audi's and 10 or more BMW's as well. Overall that seems to be a total of 45 or more cars in 20 ish years. (and yes we have lost count) 😂. Fun fact: "Most" people only own 9 or 10 cars thru-out their entire lives.

5-year depreciation averages 46% with 12k miles per year (60k miles after 5 years), 20k below your window. Sales volumes are low, and I believe the majority are leased. Those 3-year-old cars are resold as CPO cars that will have 1 year of original warranty and 14-20k miles left. If you're gonna own one of these, I'd 100% get the extended warranty and ensure that the known major generational failures have precedents established for coverage.

There’s nothing “Tesla Like” about a S class. You sound thick when you say that.

Looks tacky and overstated inside… it’s a nice car, it’s not $160,000 nice though by any stretch…

The major issue with this car is the brake lockups sometimes when parking. You have to press harder on the gas pedal to be able to move the car. If you parked the car in parallel, good luck.

That’s called the brake hold feature and you can turn it off in the settings. It’s designed to allow the driver to not need to hold the brake during extended stopping sequences such as traffic jams

Happens on all cars with Auto Hold, especially when the person behind the wheel didn’t care enough to read the manual or at least acknowledge that it’s a feature used while driving that the user should disable when parking. So the “major issue” is actually the person behind the wheel 👍
