Absolutely LOVE this book series! The writer also has a series of these book that are more “you are the hero” style, instead of controlling a group. Thank you for this review! We really need more reviews of the fighting fantasy style books genre! Oh! Also all the art in these Destiny Quest books are human created! To me, as a consumer and an RPG artist - that matters. I hope more folks pick up these books!

Yes, Tides of Terror is a refreshing change because it does lean quite heavily into the team dynamic which makes it feel quite different.

It was nice to finally have a physical copy. It's definitely an interesting spin on the game book concept.

Looks nice! How many numbered sections does it clock in? I remember the Fighting Fantasy having 400 on average, while Lone Wolf was almost always 350. Of course then there was Sorcery: Crown of Kings with a whopping 800 sections! 😅

    It's 454 sections, 65 potential combat encounters.

Disappointed there is no artwork inside, otherwise some clever ideas

Yeah, hopefully for a follow-on series, they can take on another artist or 2 to help fill interior pages.

It's a good book and it has some really interesting gameplay elements. I do love great fantasy artwork though, and I felt it could have used a bit more of that.

Scarlet shouldn't be an archer if she charges recklessly into battle...I didn't pledge for this, but I do enjoy these types of books...

She doesn't "charge" - she shoots (somewhat recklessly, ha ha) ;-)

Yes, she's impetuous, diving head-first into situations.
