I think that was intentional. In the post show Q&A they talked about the theme for this expansion being basically taking the essence of Destiny and concentrating it, while some previous ones have been about exploring new themes or adding crazy new mechanics.

When they introduced Stasis they changed the Subclass selector to have spots for three subclasses on each side of the larger center icon which had your current subclass (And the current subclass was greyed out in the smaller boxes on whichever side). When Lightfall came out the subclass selector was changed again to have one diamond with four smaller boxes inside, representing the unused subclasses, and your current subclass in the larger center diamond. This seemed obvious to me that they changed their mind on having a 6th subclass (Any time soon).

Destiny 2 will never over deliver...

Money isn’t the problem it’s pure manpower. And unless bungie wants to devote most the studio to Destiny which they aren’t. Where not going back to that. Nah no new subclass is good. The literal only way to introduce the sublcass to the game is to weave it into the story for it to not be underwhelming or confusing. Thank god there is no new subclass so they can focus on the story... look how terrible both strand and stasis were in their campaigns they essentially pushed the story to the side to make way for the subclasses

Bungie just isnt capable of doing it but id rather have a new subclass than not. If they are hiding it for after we beat the witness then thats even more of a disappointment.

I dont like the idea of the map being a big combination of old spots from other destinations,

These are just the ones I can list off the top of my head.

It seems to fit with the theme. I think people are looking too much at those bits. It's not like we are fighting in areas that exist already. It's just some notable locations have grown in this malleable landscape. There will be plenty of new assets they showed other locations that are completely new and hinted at more. It's also 6 months away still, they will still be working on more content for it.

Right after the showcase they dropped the ball with the international prices increase they promised prior.. only for internationals to have to pay 130% to nearly DOUBLE the price now, because they brought it up to 1:1 level to USD for a lot of them. Now half of the people are planning on dropping the game altogether

Sorry the whole Supers situation has bummed me out. We needed a 6th dark subclass. To balance the light and dark. Also, Strand and Stasis should have gotten more supers. Dont know why we get 3 new light ones. Two of which look cool. Sorry that was what i looked forward too....the location is mid.

Timeline Reflections is a massive waste of potential. Putting a spin on missions that are already in game is pretty lame when it could have been a way to let players play snippets of vaulted Y1/2 campaigns.

The light subclasses are pathetic cause we've gotten more substantial updates to those subclasses in literal seasons than in this new expansion

It was announced early this season I think of not late last season that Lances last lines were in game.

I honestly expected them to knock it out of the park given the current state of the game, all a bit underwhelming and it looks like a lot of old locations recycled, I'm not buying the take that's it the narrative either, they write the narrative. Collectors Edition Tower looked great though.

HowI I supposed to make an informed purchase decision when we don't know how much an episode is individually, it says there's a dungeon key included is it 2 dungeons still? Is there still gonna be a reprised raid? And lastly are the episodes going away after into the DCV?

I'm still curious about the leaked screenshot from a while back. That showed something massive after final shape.

My Theory for the 3rd Darkness class is that we get it at the end of the campaign but we lose to the witness however we come back for round 2 in the raid and beat him right before he creates the final shape (Would be cool if the wipe mechanic was him completing the final shape).

I’m not sold. I was more hyped for the new season than the expansion reveal. I’ll wait until reviews come out. I’ll wait a couple days into TFS to see what everyone says about it and if we should hop in and then I’ll see. Also depends on the quality of the raid

Thinking maybe the reason we didnt get any info on a new subclass is that we only unlock it after beating the witness. That would mean they keep it under wraps very tightly.

If they showed off some 6th Subclass gameplay I'd have said the Showcase would have been a W. To me its a bit Mid The New Light Supers look good but seems weird if all Subclasses don't get a new Super. Like are Hunter Solar and Void getting one or Just Arc? Seems weird if they just stop at one for each class. And a big L ... STASIS When is stasis getting a New Super and Grenade options and its Quality of Life change to make Stasis Shard Creation intrinsic to the Classes (Just give Hunters Touch of Winter 3 Fragments to compensate)

As for zavala (Lance Reddick) I believe there was a video that explained his final lines as zavala in season 21 Seeing the time frame I believe it to be the new guy.

I'm shocked at how boring this presentation was., especially with the context of what it represents, and how excited bungie employees seemed for it in the lead up. Lightfall had a better showcase even, and we know how that turned out. I needed them to really bring the heat to get me on board with purchasing and they didn't, so at this point post Lightfall I'm done. If it comes out and gets good buzz I'll maybe check it out but there was nothing to draw me in. I will say I'm glad they're going more quality than quantity with seasons.

Also, do you think this is the same bungie that made the Halo 3 campaign? I hope it's good, I always do. I'm rooting for them, but after Lightfall, I'm not willing to blindly hand them my money. Arc and Void supers look like probably the most fun supers to play with in the game. 3 light 3 dark was just super expected and that’s why the whole ass community is mad. With bungie you have to learn to temper expectations and expecting the obvious and hoping for the obvious will leave you disappointed.

And yeah, it's weird that we are getting more light based supers, and the fact that it's one subclass per class. I guess it would be too much to make 9 new supers but either way.

On the adding of light supers, I'm enthused about the new void Titan super. Being Captain American or a shield while being a Void Titan didn't do it for me. Using an ax sounds a little more like the newer Arc hunter combined with the solar Titan super burning maul. Seems a little more fun and powerful.

Stasis needs to be freed from the Beyond Light expansion. It should be free at this point tbh, at least some time during Year 7. Possibly we get new Stasis supers with the 2nd episode: Revenant. Then perhaps a 3rd Darkness element in the 3rd episode or whatever comes after that one.

Should've did the showcase yesterday. It was long as hell with the post show included. It ran through the launch of Season of the Witch

I’m reading some of these comments and wow, I’m surprised that people are just as underwhelmed as I am about the showcase. Also the new season seems just dry as every other season. I found myself opening the game looking at the director and closing the game to play a different one.

I'm really, really glad they're going with the witness being in the raid. I'd been a little worried that they wouldn't. I hope it's a massive one.

I can honestly say this was thw 1st showcase where I was disappointed. For us to not get a new subclass or any info on it was very weird but maybe theyll surprise us who knows.

I think Bungie wanted to give light supers because we’re fighting the darkness, and they’re using strand and stasis. They probably wanted to introduce more light for story reasons. I agree I’d like more dark supers though.

I expect the 6th/Red subclass will come in Episode 4

@dukiwave it's something inside the Traveler according to the showcase. I'm just worried it's gonna be another half explained mcguffin in Final Shape but hopefully it's much more fleshed out as this expansion has been being worked on for a couple years.

I think the problem was a big wow moment, cayde returning was already revealed, but that would still be disappointing Witch queen had hive supers Beyond light had stasis Lightfall had strand Final shape had, uhh idk some supers and aspects?

Why you skip witch queen? If you included it, it would make sense as they don't add new subclasses back to back.

Yep, for the first time I will just wait for the review (non-spoiler review to be exact), if it's overall good, I'll definitely buy it, if it's not I'm just gonna see the story via youtube or something.

they have yet to justify making the destination a linear path that heavily relies on old assets, feels stingy considering it's the finale of a supposed saga.

It's linear for the campaign, but then opens up after. They want you to focus on the story.

The supers really underwhelmed me, specially warlock... I'm hoping that after completing the campaign there actually is a new variant of darkness subclasses in areas where the witness morphed the traveler, sort of like taken king. I understand why it was light, but they looked kinda meh to me. I feel like darkness has so much more potential with what they have, specially with the broader idea of what Strand is.

It’s fascinating to watch people jump mental hoops to justify it.

It would be great thematic ties if we began our journey in Destiny 1 defeating the dark heart of the Black Garden, and now we end our Destiny journey by defeating the pale heart of the "Light Garden" or whatever. I could see that in place of actually fighting the Witness for the campaign final boss.

I hope all new exotic weapons are craftable. That should include SEASONAL PASS WEAPONS

I feel like bungie didn’t plan to add new enemies originally, and tacked them on after light fall backlash. Only reason I think that is because they are basically mini tormentors and just seem very lack luster add on. Same with the supers, it feels like they tacked on new enemies and supers simply because it wasn’t there before and they knew there would be major backlash if those things were absent. Not saying that these things being added are bad, it just has a slight sour taste to it all in my opinion.

I thought the showcase was fine. That's it, just fine. I got excited to see some old and returning stuff like radiance 2.0 and other stuff, but after that i sat down took a breather a realized it was just okay and this is from someone with low expectations. I should have expected that there wouldn't be a new subclass, its a bummer because that leak with red looked so real and then the announcement of 3 supers got exciting. Then its just 3 super and aspects not for all subclasses not for each light class just 3 thats pretty disappointing especially when stasis needs help badly.

Eirs Morn transformed and i thought ok here are the new Hive subclasses...

I do wonder how much of this had to be changed via the drama that happened at the "end" of last season. I think they pulled another secret swap with the red subclass and these new light supers to save it for the "episodes". Keep us around for what's next...

Idk, man. I'm not a game dev, but I find it hard that studios can just easily change stuff as your suggesting. Would they not have FS done by the time Witch Queen dropped maybe? And from then until now it's nothing but polishing in post-production?

This is cool and all, but when are we getting our content vaulted raids, pvp and gambit maps back?

Not too excited. With their "don't over deliver" policy in action, I didn't have too much reason to come back from the showcase.

No that will not happen, because if it would, they would have made it abundantly clear and shown it for marketing. Like in Forsaken. 100% not happening.

The crazy part is, I was more excited for the Season of the Witch , than final shape. What the hell, they had a chance to really blow us away with the final shape. Trailer wise I mean. Should’ve had more enemy types besides subjugaters, and etc. And I bet you what ghost says to you is at the end of the campaign, spoilers.

I'm happy with what we got. If they are going to work on whole new forces I'd prefer them to do that for the new saga and not for an enemy we'll only see once
