2 key differences with K-Drive 1) Weapons: Any 1-handed gun can be used while on said K-Drive. 2) Ragdolls, even some that would send you to the stratosphere.

Very well constructed comparison, but there's one very critical part missing: Customization. In Warframe, every part of the K-Drive is fully customizable. Both the component parts and the mods. K-Drives can be tuned for speed, damage, and stunts all at the same time. I have not yet seen the Skimmer in Destiny 2, but Destiny is not known for it's free customization with it's vehicles.

In d2 you can select the speed and colors of a skimmer, and there are other models you can get but you can’t swap individual parts. It’s also solely for transportation, it’s not intended for damage.

K-Drive is also completely free with you being to earn more customizations by doing tricks on the board. can't color it till ya make a custom board but still cool.

In warframe, you can actually use secondary weapons on it. And even modify it so it has special attacks. Like a shockwave that knocks down enemies. Or a fire ring when you spin.

also, dismounting can be used offensively during combat, as it will impact the enemies and knock them down. while you backflip to gain height which means bullet time to aim. you can also dismount, backflip and summon your archwing while you are in the air. so while the animations are jankier, the gameplay fits the fast pace of warframe.

The difference is that I'll actually use it on destiny, where on warframe I have other means of getting around I use instead, like like the archwing or even just using gauss or titania.

the thing is that in warframe k drives are overshadow by his older brother the archwing. why bother going on land when you can fly and teleport a small distance every 3 seconds. thats why tenno dont use them also you have access to full arsenal and skills while in archwing. what we can agree is that took several years for bungie to add that lol

You can bonk enemies with the skimmer and using tricks it is surprisingly effective

I rebound the keys for Skimmer controls to share the same as my K-Drive. It's been a lot of fun! I'm glad very glad my fellow Guardians will get to shred it up like the Tenno. Now to wait for an official crossover. (A lady can dream!)

I personally prefer K-Drives, just because they're faster. But unfortunately, they're only really fun to use in Orb Vallis because what they really need is flat terrain. Otherwise, you're just getting thrown off all the time because your K-Drive hit a pebble.

As much as I love Warframe, sparrows and looks like these skimmers feel so much better to drive , they feel like they got some waight to them unlike k drives who can turn on a dime like it's no big deal. Witch is fine but sometimes I just prefer useing a kaith, arcwing or fuck it the mechs to travel instead of the hover boards.

The skimmer works like a sparrow when it comes to damage, you can splatter weaker enemies if you run them over with sufficient speed, and tougher enemies will get hurt and yanked around.

on console both sticks will trigger an aggressive spin to the left or right depending which one you pressed and you can bonk enemies with it or fling them into walls

K Drive for me has much cooler sound effects. Skimmer really just skims, but the K Drive sounds like something that *drives*.

My only problem with specifically the guardian games one is how the trail will change color to Titan red when you dismount while moving

Y'know how archwings make K-Drives pretty much pointless? It's the opposite for Destiny; skimmers make sparrows pointless. I've already seen Destiny videos of people using skimmers to trivialise some portions of the game. In Destiny, you occasionally get sparrow sections - one of the most famous ones is lovingly called "Rainbow Road" in the Prophecy Dungeon - and you can pretty much skip it now.

There are 2 You get a common version of the skimmer which will be taken away at the end of the event 3 weeks later but if you complete the quest given during the event you'll be given an exotic version to keep forever. Then there's one in the store you can pay for which is styled in the form of one of destiny's most famous exotic weapons.

I show that in the 'Part 2' video.

Even tho K-Drives launched earlier than the skimmers, the skimmer animation in terms of actual in between animations as well as character riding animations are much smoother by comparison. K-Drives feel like they are a stiff rock falling down rather than being the airy, anti-grav vehicle they should be. Every emote/trick animation ends way too abruptly, but Warframe has always had a history of stiff, snappy animation, so I guess adding in more frames to show deceleration and stabilization would not mesh well with the animation it typically has.

I remember back when archwings and K drives had actual physics and momentum and with the speeds involved it felt more like playing pinball with level geometry than controlled flight. The entire community hated using archwing for anything but as a nessessary transport so DE caved in and removed momentum physics. Its snappy and basic now but much more usable since you arent fighting against the controlls.

Warframe animations consider gameplay over quality. The gameplay is usually so fast-paced you won't really be able to see anything. Having longer, less snappy animations would become annoying to me, especially in high level/steel path when being locking in an animation for 1 second longer than normal can mean death. Also, ask any Yareli player how they like dealing with current floaty movement of K-Drive.

I can't wait for the jetpack update in Destiny 2. Though, I wouldn't mind a bike vehicle in Warframe...

I'm not playing Destiny so I'm curious. Is this thing actually usefull in Destiny? Because in WF you never use this thing in the open worlds once you unlocked the Archwing Segment. Hell even using the map teleporter or the Duviri Pegasus brings you faster to your location compared to this thing. Such a memeboard.

The Skimmer is a vehicle class in Destiny that shares the same slot as the normal sparrow. Fundamentally they're the same on what they do, they can take you from point A to point B. All land vehicles in Destiny share the same speed values so it technically doesn't matter what vehicle you use. Where the similarities end is how the Skimmer can just "grind" over long distances and you can also jump with them, allowing you to take them to areas that normal sparrows can't reach by normal means.

They tend to share a similar purpose to sparrows in being mostly for movement and their ability to jump and grind mid air allows for reaching more areas than sparrows so they seem a bit more useful atm. Unless something big changes with the skimmer it likely will remain useful in the future as well, though likely will never be required for anything

The real question no one is asking (or I'm just to lazy to skim through every comment) is would you prefer using the K-drive in Warframe over it's other travel component Archwing or are you willing to use the Skimmer over it's counterpart the Sparrow? Me personally within Warframe, nothing really beats the Archwing travel; but I've got to say the Skimmer is the solution to the Sparrow that I didn't know I wanted. Though Warframe does have D2 beat with combat on vehicles so a lot yadda yadda but you get it.

So what happens to sparrows now? Then again I'm assuming the surf board has less speed and stuff overall

The menu seems to indicate they have the same general speed of sparrows now(190 i believe). Not sure if the sky grind moves as fast as the sparrow boost though. The surfboard is put in the same slot as sparrows so I imagine the game will just treat them as another type of sparrow generally

k drive has alot of cool feature do, both can flip you instead of with the k drive and can send you to the void

This is my first time seeing this thing, that might make me want to play Destiny 2 again... I loved it in Just Cause 4. The hoverboards in destiny are free as well, gotten through the free seasonal event which is essentially a game wide leaderboard or ranking up in the event by the vender for it. The only fully unique thing in this comparison is the k drive customization which while neat requires a bunch of grinding with that vender and other things to even get to and most dont bother because kdrives are fiddly at best and outperformed on a massive scale by archwings which we get before kdrives. Getting at Yureli and her weaponry is pretty much the only reason to care about the vender to be honest Though it's silly how many people are trying to constantly dunk on the other game in this comment section. Like it's just a fun look at how hoverboards look and work in both games and people cant just let it be that. It has to be a tribal chest beating to assert the dominance of their favored piece of software that is likely just as greedy and money hungry as the other

I can use my side arm on my k drive, also i can mod it to do some whacky stuff, also ragdoll.

The k-drives in waframe are better with more tricks and more customization, but the d2 skimmers are actually going to be used. Because there isnt a better mode of transportation like in warframe archwings.

Is warframe worth getting into? I have 2k hours on destiny, should I play warframe???

Ah yes, minimal effort lol. Minimal effort is when the devs design entirely new animation sets and whole gameplay mechanics that don't exist for sparrows.

i play neither so from someone like me i do notice how much more animation is in destiny, theres animation to the board when tilting, high speed, jump, mounting and much more smoother driving. warframe is more static all around

Keep in mind that k-drive is in a game where you can fly, transform into a flying insect, turn into a ball, transforming to a cloud and run like the flash ,ride a flying horse and probably alot more too😂iam sorry but it's not even close specially with the current state of destiny 2 , i didn't even know that they added that in the game too, don't they have sparrows or whatever they were called? What's the point of it? Ik we can ask the same question for Warframe but you know what i mean 😂

Dam the destiny 2 one has super smooth animations i wish DE improve the kdrive animations and archwings (other stuff too)

One good thing I WISH Destiny would take from Warframe is that all the vehicles have some form of weapons. Archwing has a full arsenal. The Mechas have their own weapons and K-drive can use secondary weapons but that is ok. It just doesn't make sense a goddamn hover bike or a hover board can't use a handgun. I mean they had this since GTA.

I think the difference for me is I can use the skimmer like my Sparrow. I can use it to go places. But the K Drive is much slower than your archwing. I'd rather just use the archwing to get to my destination.

sooo... why didn't skimmers release with lightfall to begin with. jesus, bungie :/

Warframe has some of the best movement systems i've ever seen in a fighting game

Everyone: its just like the K Drive. Me: *standing there next to my giant purple insect hornet thing* meh. Mines more like a pet than a board. In warframe you get to have a skin that makes your board look like a giant dragon fly wasp thing.

Yeah the K Drive is so much better in all regards... In the video I don't think you have most of the mods equipped, but once you mod it with higher jump, faster jump charge, faster speed, less chance to fall, etc, it becomes so much faster and easier to pull off tricks and crasy moves with it... Plus you can shoot your secondary weapon while using it... And you can immediately switch to it with a single button press and combine it with stuff like archwing for insane mobility... Honestly the Plank in Destiny is basically a reskinned sparrow with a lame floating sideways animation, it doesn't even grind on actual obstacles FFS...

That weird air grind thing looks like it could have some niche uses, and the about face turn is smoother.. Otherwise still prefer my dumb little kdrive.. I haven't bothered modding the thing.. if thats even a thing.. Just about everything in warframe is modable so I assume so.. But nah I just constantly grind on anything grindable.. then ragdoll off the side of a mountain.

the only reason destiny has the skimmer is because they took the idea of the sparrows (aka star wars speeder bikes) and said "lets make them boring. plus it has been almost 7 years since d2 launched and they still never even brought back something as simple as sparrow horn customization.

if we can shooting with skimer would be game breaker

I love k-drives but i feel like archwings make them pointless

You forgot the different tricks on Destiny’s skimmer with the four emote buttons. For Xbox it’s the d-pad.

The one in warframe can be upgraded with a double jump, jump height, etc. Not sure about Destiny.

Tmk it can jump again in mid air after an aie grind until it runs out of energy at which point you fall. Though from what I hear people are getting around that now by jumping off when out of energy and summoning another in mid air. Through the power of cheese you can get essentially infinite jumps

I usually don't suck up to destiny but this skimmer thing is awesome, it's actually a viable mode of transportation which is what warframe fucked up on

Youre forgetting that the skimmer is accidentally carrying the legacy of old warframe cause it and slide copter for more speed

Both are very cool. Both games are very fun.

The animation on destiny very unique The movement just like Tony hawk But on WF a little bit stiffness

Destiny's Skimmer looks so satisfyingly smooth to me (first time I see it), it low key made me miss the game 😭
