I will have a touch of sadness once the light and dark saga is done. The books of sorrow and the hive in general have been my favourite story arch in destiny.

solid video, and I'm glad to see the narrative of the winnower and witness are 2 entirely different beings. while Bungie might have tried to retcon the winnower with the witness, it feels like they might be course correcting with the final shape collectors edition lore. the main point of divergence for me with your theory is that i do not believe the traveler is the gardener. i think it is a tool, used by the gardener, just as the winnower manipulates beings into carrying out their motives through coercion, the gardener instead employs a giant floating terraforming ball I'm really excited to get to the final shape and get these answers regardless of what they end up being!

44:57 Didn't Lakshmi-2 die as a result of opening the Vex gate in the Last City? Pretty sure the mission even had her corpse somewhere on the ground.

Maya Sundaresh, is Lakshmi-2. When she founded Neomuna with her partner Chioma Esi. She made several copies of her self. One of those copies was called Lakshmi-2. All Exo memories are stored before every wipe. There are also multiple Vex network copies of Maya Sundaresh out there residing within the network. My 2 cents before watching is that the Darkness, in its simplest form, is selfishness. The Light however, is selflessness. We see this in the Sword logic. You take the lives of others to fuel your own personal power, i.e selfishness. Meanwhile, Bomb logic is coming together to defeat your foes, but losing many parts, i.e selflessness. These forces are opposed, but can be used in tandem. One can be selfless and act selfishly, and vice versa. All the forces of Darkness wanted to gain something for themselves, while the only force of Light we know of, the Traveler, has only ever sought to give. Hell, one of the main Darkness powers is to "Take". Does that not sound selfish? You are literally taking body and/or souls of one thing, and making it yours. Now for after I've watched the video. I personally believe it is not a battle between the Traveler and the Winnower, but the Gardener and the Winnower. I believe the destiny universe started as 2 sisters sharing a garden, where one was responsible for having the fruits grow and flourish, and the other was responsible to harvest those fruits. Another personal thing I have is the fact that there might only be 2 subclasses each for Light and Dark. We have Solar and Arc for Light, and Stasis and Strand for Dark. Void, I think, is neither of them. Not its own thing, just a law of the universe that both Light and Dark adhere to. Both the forces of Light, and the forces of Dark, can use Void, so I think my idea is possible. Anyway, I think that the Gardener, using Light, wants to help everything prosper, and the Traveler is simply a tool it uses to do this. On the other hand, its the Winnower's duty to destroy these things, and if we're going off the garden headcanon, prepare them for something else. Now what do we know of that consumes things? That's right, Void. Void needs Light to grow its food, and Dark to harvest it. In its place, there is nothing, i.e a Void. Whether something serves the Dark or Light is irrelevent, as those "fruits" could be seen as a farmer eating something right off the plant; it doesn't really affect the amount of produce left. The Witness, however, serving Darkness, wants to make a new farm, one where the plants harvest each other. Anyway, can you tell I'm a Warlock main?

I appreciate you taking the time to delve into the deeper meanings behind the Light and Dark in Destiny. Your theories make for an intriguing discussion! This is very similar to what is discussed in the Hidden Dossier lore entry. It is a discussion between Ikora Rey and Jalaal a member of the hidden, on the complex matters of Light and Darkness. This is also a topic which Osiris discusses in length as well, during Lightfall campaign. I'm quite eager to move into Final Shape and see how things the development of this paracausal relationships evolves. Yes! 😄 I can definitely tell that you are a Warlock.
