Great to wake up to a favorite march! Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau.. interceded to get Kronprinz Friedrich (later to become "der alte Fritz" 😎) reinstated in the Prussian army after his desertion and attempted flight from his cruel father.. helped modernize the Prussian army.. won a great victory at Kesselsdorf, etc. But I always remember the melody adapted and sung by Curd Jürgens' U-Boat crew in the film 'The Enemy Below': "To you, my friend, and you, my friend, and all of us together.." 😎🎶🎶
I played this to a US Marine. He instantly became a Prussian soldier. ( with an Iron ramrod just like Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau intended)

Germany/Prussia has some of the best military songs. At least that’s my opinion.
