LYRICS:
Decksperado
Why don’t you come to your senses?
You’ve been casting ascensions for so long now
Oh, you’re a hard one
But I know that you’ve got your reasons
But these decks that are pleasing you will hurt you somehow
Don’t you sleeve that Sundering Titan, boy
They’ll beat you if they’re able
The Primeval one is always your best bet
Now it seems to me some fine decks
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that just can’t win
Decksperado
No, you don’t want to do better
Or play something in the meta
You just go 0 and 8
It may be raining
But there’s a rainbow above you
You better stop assembling Kaldra
Stop assembling Kaldra
You better stop assembling Kaldra
Before it’s too late

@@Hyunkel33, I 100% agree. One of my favorite memories is when playing with some of my friends and I pulled out a deck that I haven’t played in the group for a long time and one of the players hasn’t seen my deck. The deck had roughly 2 1/2 ways to win and a handful of ways to get there (I don’t have enough copies of the cards to make it consistent enough so multiple variations of the same ability and completely different methods to get to the same place are there). A little into the game the player who hasn’t seen the deck commented that he had no idea my deck was. At that point I was set to start feeding into whatever endgame card I drew or maintain my board and set up to be stronger for when one of the cards came (or just start working on killing people with my set up). It was so satisfying to tell him that he’s looking at what the deck does and should be asking what the final piece is. Well that and the confused face he gave combined with the worry from those that knew my deck.

The paradox is that without winning or losing there would be no point playing. However, just winning because you copy other people's decks doesn't feel like YOU won, more like you were following instructions. It is basically impossible to build a top class deck that is exclusively your personal design, which wasn't already done better by someone else. But the argument is certainly there that having a deck you call your own is half the point. Sometimes you just want to express yourself.

My favorite crazy win is making an army of krenko in my Riku copy shenanigans deck as it takes several cards to do, my opponents see it a mile off but if a response wasn't played, it's about 30 minutes of math. Combo is Krenko, Helm of Hosts, Brudiclad, Breath of Fury, Parallel Lives and for added fun, Deceiver of Form. Think the most krenkos I had at once was 20ish before the tapping to create the gobbo tokens. Deceiver activated and I revealed a sliver that gave other slivers +2/+2 and we agreed that army was more than enough to finish everybody off but the flavor imagery was great as I was facing a white deck with Thalia who mentions how Krenko needs to be dealt with before he gets out of hand

@@shirogamiakatsuki2423 well no! Kaldra's Helm text reads : (1): If you control an Equipment named Helm of Kaldra, Sword of Kaldra, and Shield of Kaldra, create Kaldra, a legendary 4/4 colorless Avatar creature token. Attach those Equipment to it. So there isn't an equip ability ever on the stack for you to respond to! You don't get to act in response to the second part of that ability (before the equipment is attached). But even if you could, and the doom blade resolved, your OP could just pay 1 mana at any time to make another kaldra!

This actually is extremely touching to me, and has such a deep meaning. I really think people take the game way too seriously and forget to have fun sometimes. It reminds me of when me, my brother and our two best childhood friends played. Me and one friend only wanted to have fun and screwed up the game with wacky nonsense while my brother and his friend only cared about winning. Well guess who quit playing, and only collects now? Definitely not me! I have a Gyrus Corpsewaker/Rikk-Jikki combination that is nuts! Especially since I pulled Valki and threw him in there for no reason! Hehe

I've virtually stopped playing MTG after I realized how stubborn I was, doing nothing but forcing jank or building high-theme, low-power decks, and having no fun the few times I played practically or within a meta. It was more trouble and money than it was worth, ultimately. This Decksperado janked his last.
