As an industrial designer specializing in product rendering I can assure you that the diagonal streak in the photo was not an accident. Sharp contrasting lines across a surface are a means of conveying "new", "polished", "smooth" and "futuristic". Love your videos, by the way!

you are such an underrated artist in how you have been able to make concepts that most take for granted look new and bring new life to things through your extremely well executed soundtracks and musical skill. before watching this video i hardly knew anything about this particular sound system but now having watched it i feel familiarized with it.

@posy I dont know who you are, I dont know how you found me, but tonight your videos demonstrated to me that i am in the wrong career. I have an artistic and creative mind but I never knew how I could make a living doing something that could be creative, useful, and meaningful. I think now I want to pursue education in the field of industrial design. Your videos truly inspire me, thank you for this guidance and helping me to readjust my path.
Removing the protective plastic on the remote has satisfied my biggest pet peeve. Absolute legend.
@JaredConnell

Whenever I get something new I leave the plastic on for as long as I can. That delayed satisfaction is sooo nice. Especially when I realize weeks or months later that I forgot and I finally get to peel it off. It keeps it looking nice for longer and lets me enjoy the feeling of a new product long after I've bought it. Now mind you it usually lasts a few hours to days at most but sometimes the protective plastic cover stays on for quite a while. Not as long as the remote in this video though lol
3:50 My jaw literally hit the floor with how perfectly and beautifully you recreated the product advertisement aesthetics.
More like a wonderfully produced video about something I’ve never thought about before. 😊

Super creative goofiness. Playing two sources at the same time w no mixers is a stoner accessory my eighteen year old self will adore
Nowadays the dual sound feature would make some sense - you can have your email and whatnot notification at the same time than listening to cd's for example. Awesome video. And now I know i'm not the only one who 'designed' his own stereo systems back in the day to my sketsbooks.

If I ever see this as a young teen or as a kid, I would fallen in love with this at an instant, even today I'm looking now for this :)
Dude, what a beautiful system! Back in the 90s my dad had a shop where we sold these systems - Kenwood, SONY, Panasonic, Technics, Philips, etc. I still have my old catalogues. I could only dream to own some of these back in the day!
I’m already in love with this video, thank you for the consistent quality :)
Posy, you are without doubt the most dedicated youtuber I have seen. Your videos are professionally made, and your camera work is perfectly executed. And you go even further and even make your OWN music! I've never seen a youtuber do that for their videos. Keep up the great work!
This video makes you feel like revisiting an old tech and intensively staring at it's features for a good amount of time, just like a normal audio geek would do that's born in the 90s. You can almost smell the innerds of the electronics just by watching. This channel is such a gem. thanks for making such a beautiful and in depth walkthrough, it really does scratch the itch of my inner geekiness lol.
That CD platter ejecting is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen in my life, and I'm completely impressed with how you made a widescreen video version of the advertisement photo! Definitely one of my favorite KZread videos I've ever seen!

My parents have this unit with all the optional extras like Omni Top speakers. I was blown away when I heard the 3d sound CD that came with it. Still an awesome unit by todays standards.
"I've decided not to collect more gears than fits in here"- said no musician ever. If did, repeat again after the next gear purchase. 😂 Jokes aside, this is a great video. Have always loved the 90s design of Hi-Fi system, being a guy that was born in 91 and growing up around relatives that had these devices. Reminds me of the time when I was using a Sony HCD-V800, that we got from my mom's friend, few stuffs was broken but the auxiliary input still worked. Hooked it up to my PC and played games through it, fun times. Shooters and racing games were more fun, going through those stereo.
I sold one of these not long ago on ebay in the UK. The pre-amp display is known to go blank, but it is just a 50 pence capacitor that needs replacing inside as I fixed 2 of them after finding this out ;) They're lovely-looking stereos, with the only fault being the slow-acting volume knob. Making your own cassette tapes definitely required the use of the manual, as it was quite complicated.
I don't really know exactly why but I feel like I should be slightly annoyed by your over-produced videos about things only I may care about, but they are just so awesomely done and the items are so cool that I can't help loving them and appreciating your time and work.. :D Cheers man. Don't stop.
Usually i find videos that take longer to get to the point annoying... With this one i still have no real clue but i love it.
Thanks bunches, Michiel! Another incredibly fun and immersive video. Love it to bits. Awesome tunes as well; I actually prefer the vocal version of Just Play a Song 💜.

Was caught very much off-guard by the slapstick acting. Fantastic video, man.
Wonderful video. I cannot express how much understanding I have for every single second of it. Your videos encouraged me to take action and boldly solve a problem most normal people just ignore: some music I like tends to disappear from the internet. So I decided to save it the old skool way like I always imagined it should be done - on minidisc! I never actually had one in it’s heyday but since I’m older and I can afford it now I thought: why the hell not. Minidisc are cute and colorful, the source is compressed anyway. I was also looking for a slightly better pair of speakers for my PC so before actually ordering a pair of decent monitors - why not take a look at the 00’s bookshelf hifi? And so I did. I found one by accident that was kinda broken but dirt cheap and just went for it thinking - it’s a good start of a quest for something better. I wasn’t afraid of repairing it myself obviously because it was dirt cheap. After two weeks of taking it apart and putting it together again I managed to fix every issue so now I had a placeholder micro hifi to play (and save by recording record) some music while looking for a better and more advanced system - maybe even from Japan! It took me a few months of tracking the ebay to come to a bitter sweet conclusion: there were no better systems than the one I bought dirt cheap almost by accident (cmt100md). Every other system I found is plagued with way more issues and by any mean even more frustrating to use nowadays. The worst part is I was really looking forward to enjoy the quest inspired by your videos to find myself the best hifi of it’s day. I know it saved me from having a closet full of old hifis I never use but the quest... oh I know it's stupid but I still think it would have been a wonderful and pointless waste of time and money :)
This is the best thing!!!! Love it!!!!! I miss the Aiwa and JVC Hi-Fi Stereo Systems I had growing up. Absolutely loved them, and your passion for this Kenwood was JUST AS lovely to see.
Your "why would you do that?!" Got me good
You know it's a good day when Posy uploads a video! I think the best part about watching your videos is that they give the younger generations a feeling of what the technology our parents used when growing up and in their 20s. On top of that, your videos turn each product/subject into a timeless experience, something I've not seen being done so well by anyone else. Very cool, keep up the content!
I just discovered your channel, and i think you're about to be one of my favorite creators on this platform. Thank you so much for the love and care that went into this strangely entertaining video

Ah!! My dad had the *exact* same sound system!! This is the piece of equipment that got me into audio visualizers. I loved watching the little bars 'sing and dance' to the grateful dead growing up. My dad always had it in some weird echo mode (DSP) and thought that's just how they're supposed to sound lol.
@HulluJanne
Жыл бұрын
Just thinking of all those people who were (or still are) convinced that a certain "sound mode" was/is how music should actually sound like, and then be really enthusiastic or even get annoyed or mad if you're trying to convince them otherwise. Just a year ago, I went to this couple's place, whom I had never met before, with a friend. At pretty early stage I noticed that the rear speakers of his home theater system were trying to output some music but it sounded like severely mashed up, distorted bits and broken compression algorithms. And once I noticed that, I tried to listen to the front speakers and they didn't sound much better. At some point I decided to fiddle with the remote and found a basic "stereo" mode. Then the system (with some pretty expensive looking main speakers) started sounding like they were actually playing music (without the surround speakers). Fast forward a bit and I hear the dude raising his voice about someone making changes on his receiver. Yeah, ok, I get it, I'd be pissed too if someone changed my settings, but only if they were some actually measured/set up room corrections that really took me time and not just some idiotic "dolby pro logic" or "BBE level +5" nonsense. I think his receiver was one of those very basic integrated home theater amps... Even though the dude seemed like he is in to hifi more than average, as there was another pair of floor speakers in the "hallway" of the apartment.
Thank you making content that’s fun, quirky and well informed! This is why I come to KZread in the first place!

Ask any collector and they'll tell you their taste is not for the masses. Even though I'm not knowledgeable about this topic, I know these are some very special audio systems. Then again, none of them is an overpriced 50k speaker 😉. It matters not however. Your passion and joy are conveyed very well. And that's what we enjoy here. Being pulled into something we don't necessarily care about, but in a manner we can't resist. I've also recently acquired an outdated micro stereo system. It's capable of recording to USB. Something barely anyone even knows was possible for a short period of time in history.
There is next level, and there is you! Amazing production. ❤
