Designing with wattle for small garden spaces
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I used sticks to build a very successful privacy fence. It is sturdy and durable, serves us for several years already, and is a wonderful stylish presence in our garden. Very unique garden solution. Also, I used wattle to define vegetable garden space. Come and see how I did it.

Im totally impressed! I made one project with sticks, I used a tri-fold trellis, and strung sticks thru it to resemble a pine tree. Im really glad i accidently stumbled upon your page. Subscribed!
Love the natural look of your wattle fencing! I realized the sucker branches on my apple and ornamental plum trees would be perfect sticks. Can't wait to try. Thanks for the guidance.
Olga, thank you very much for your video. I made a flower bed wattle boarder out of sticks yesterday and love it. You are right, finding sticks is the hardest part.
“They will listen to my hand”! I like that :))
If you use locust sticks, they won't rot.
I know this video is a little older, but your tip about harvesting from people's front yard waste is so helpful! I don't have a private forest either, and I wanted a wattle fence around my garden but I don't want to buy the materials, that seems silly to me!

I asked the forestry service and electrical people to leave their cuttings and mulched trimmings for me. What I don't use helps hold up the bank, since we cannot grow rivercane in that area, so close to the road.
I love that wall, the ivy climbing over it just makes it. Your garden is beautiful.

Дуже симпатичний у Вас садок! ❤Я теж люблю в своєму садку використовувати гілочки!
Love it. Funny I’ve been looking at this the past few weeks. There is a very useful video on KZread “how to make a medieval fence” by ta outdoors. I think every 6 or 7th cane he puts in a twist at the end and bends it back on itself to stop it sinking. Looks fantastic.

Yes, when I started that big fence, I didn’t know that such big amount of sticks was needed! It was a slow project, but totally worth it. Thanks for watching!
It's lovely!
Thank you Olga! I'd love to do some wattle fencing in my garden...guess I need to start collecting long sticks. Your video was informative and your fence is lovely.

Thank you, the long sticks are the problem, they are difficult to accumulate in populated areas. Happy gardening!
I ❤ it so much

Love the look of this as garden bed edging Olga. Can you use buddleia canes?
That wall is amazing. I am definitely trying that. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I love your wattle fencing. Just gorgeous! I know it’s time consuming, but the look is amazing. I’d be so proud if I made that! 😍
Thank you Olga! I’m hoping to use this as a border for my garden beds in Scotland 😊

You too, Zeleha, enjoy your week! Thanks!
I had a short wattle gems for several years, which I made from hazel Prunings - (the squirrels love to hide nuts!) As you say - it takes more material than you think!
I love this so much!
I'm so excited to make my wattle fence. I'm going to make one maybe like 2 feet tall all around my garden. Thank you for the help in figuring it out!!! :D

Good idea, you need a LOT of sticks!
Love the wattle fence. I have a chain link fence with a gate that goes into the backyard. I have plenty of sticks, as I save the ones that fall from the numerous trees in the back of the property. Maybe I will get energetic and try this project! The look is rustic and perfect for my taste!

Just keep in mind that old sticks don't bend well. Fresh ones are very good.

I'm doing a wattle raised bed for my strawberries. Sort of poking away at it each day. It's like 98% gathering materials, 2% actually building (!).

So true, I find it extremely difficult to acquire those sticks.
What kind of branches are they,,,they look flexible.
Very very good imagination and you’ve done a good job , thank you for the idea ,really natural and look beautiful and nice ,I may do it if I can find some branches, thank you

Unfortunately in Western Australia we have white ants. They love to eat any wood that is not treated. 😢

Aw that sucks! I wonder if there's plants that they don't like that would grow in your zone?? You could plant those close to the fencing?
Is the garden arch behind you @04:50 also naturally sourced !
