DESIGN OBJECTS - The armchair Grand Confort LC2

The creation of the armchair Grand Confort LC2 was possible thanks to a short, but very fruitful collaboration, between Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
The frame is made in chromed tubular steel going down to feet, a slimmer inferior frame holding all the padded parts, and a support structure made of interlacing straps on which are placed the upholstered cushions in leather. Once all the pieces are assembled on the structure, they create a perfect compact cube.
This armchair was presented the first time at the Autumn Fair in Paris from 1929 and encountered a huge success among the public, so that the Thonet company immediately placed it into production. From 1965 until present day, the armchair LC2, along with other items from the collection LC, is produced by the Italian company Cassina.
Synonym of great design, comfortability, and versatility, LC2 continues being a favorite of modern interiors for international clientele.
Keep being on trend and adjusting to modern exigencies, Cassina added more options for the tubular structure, which besides the classical chrome steel version, today can be varnished in several colors: black, brown, grey, light blue, green, mud and ivory.
The cushions of the structure, sitting, backrest and armchairs including, can have different paddings:
1/ with upholstering in polyester wadding or
2/ with padding in feathers.
The armchair LC2 is a cult object, a timeless design icon, loved and appreciated worldwide!
Enjoy!
Best wishes,
N.
