Design Geometric Kilim-inspired Art Minis Part 1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

SUPPLIES LIST BELOW ⬇️
Learn how to make these classy little framed art pieces in a few simple steps. We spend time looking at the colors and geometric shapes that make the Kilim textiles so attractive and then roll off some gelli prints. In part two, I show you how to collage the gelli prints together and then frame them so they look professional and polished.

This was an excellent demonstration. I was especially taken by the planning, where you drew inspiration from the colours and shapes of kilims and wrote down what you intended to use. This approach built a bridge between the inspiration and the work being created. I’ve not seen this level of planning by abstract artists before. I think this approach will help me. I also liked the way that you muted some colours, which I think will provide a sort of linking theme when you create your final artworks. This may also be the secret of using many colours in a coherent way. Thank you for sharing your skills so generously.

Great tutorial! You might want to try rice paper, tissue paper and just normal copy paper especially if using for collages, no need to to use your good watercolor papers. I especially love tissue and rice paper on my gelli plate. 😊

90lbs mixed media paper is a great on to use instead of the arches but if you want the 100% cotton Amazon has several cheaper options. I’ve found instead of Elmer’s glue I use my hot glue gun to make stencils, it seems to last longer and gives you a thicker line. - Kristin ❤

I really like your videos. I love abstract and have been trying it for about a year now. It is so hard for me. I recently started using a gelli plate and love how it is so unpredictable. I haven't tried collage. I think that's my next step. Thank you for making the videos!

Hot glue gun would have made a stiffer stencil that stays in place over the Elmer’s glue. I made a really neat tree stencil!😊

I really enjoy your videos. it has some quite different qualities to others that I have seen. Unfortunately, there was a fair amount of blurriness on this video and the background music was distracting. Thank you for sharing your process

@@KitchenCounterAbstract I see them now! Thanks. I have some silk kimono strips and am thinking that could be an approach to something like your gel prints in a very small may opening.. Maybe I need to use spray adhesive to get them on the packing mat board, You may have created a monster.

Hi, I stumbled upon your channel. I love your art and the way you show your process. Please show more! To be true, for me the videos are too long, half the time (15 min) would suit me better. But its your choice of course. That said, I love your work!
