etap.com - System blackouts are extremely costly for Integrated Steel Works. As an example, during an unplanned outage, the Blast Furnace (BF) can fall into a dangerous overheating condition when the blowers ceases to operate. This lack of required cooling will potentially destroy the BF due to the solidification of liquid iron in the equipment. Integrated Steel Works must be designed to prevent and minimize the impact of such blackouts. The system must be equipped with an intelligent and fast load shedding solution to ensure that proactive automated action are taking before such an costly unplanned outage.
This presentation will discuss the steps in system design as well as the justification and implementation of ETAP Intelligent Load Shedding (ILS) system at Hyundai Steel, Incheon plant.
