I would pick a brand that you know very well and interact with often, and create a campaign for them! Make sure you document your process so that you’re able to show that work and thinking in your portfolio.

I LOVE this! I'm learning about identity design right now and I came across this video. For a mock up project I wanted to do a hair care brand but my target audience be my fellow Filipina sisters or south east asians who have some waves and textures in our hair. This video activated my creative juices, thank you for this vid!

I said it before on another video, I live for these. In school for graphic design, know all the principles and basics. I come from a photography background so the whole actual process of branding is still a little confusing, to see you doing it from start to finish has helped me build mock ups and add to my portfolio thank you.\

My process is similar to yours when finding fonts. I probably spend waaay too much time looking for fonts though. Lol. I've recently been using FreePik to find fonts styles that are already done that fit my design direction. A lil cheat code because... why not? I got ish to do and it ain't slaving over font styles. Lol.

I love this process! As a designer that wants to start on her own I wonder: if you do branding like this, do you make one brand design like this or do you offer multiple options? Like you are the professional and this is your advice? Or do you give options 😊 I also wonder what you would charge for a brand like this 🫣

Me personally, I would have made a pattern with the logo and maybe a sub logo with an icon of some sort. It still came out beautifully ❤

As far as processes, I personally like to complete my moodboard first before sourcing fonts and creating the logo. It kinda helps me visualize the brand as I create the logo which i like. Then I review and revise my color palette but I usually pick out about 6-8 colors. I do really like how you go about working with colors during your project though. It gives a bit more variety to experiment I think!

Yes! I figured even if it turns out wack, it’s always dope to see process. Plus being able to look back on my own process helps me in the future. Agree on completing the moodboard! If this was for a real client I def wouldn’t move forward without that step or something like it. 😅

I'm an in house designer in my first year, but I would love to start making mock projects for practice.

Super cool, I like your thought process. But in making certain design decisions like choosing the fonts, it shouldn't be based off how you feel cos at the end of the day you are not the one who is going to use the product. It should be related to the target audience.

Loved this so much! I noticed you had the logos and colors all together in that one section in Photoshop 27:40, how were you able to do that? That would make my design process so much faster! Also love the graphic with the telephones, definitely my favorite!

Thank you! I use illustrator and it gives you a full workspace so you can basically add whatever you want, and export whatever is living on its own artboard. I always put a bunch of stuff on the workspace & only remove it if I need my native files to be smaller. 😊
