Men have higher collagen density. Lots of women back in the day (pre-retin-a) didn't 'tamper' with their skin, and their skin aged faster compared to using these 'molesting' products, lol.

Same here... It depens where u live. In some areas the water is too hard and agressive for the skin. But this is a rare case and no reason to over reacting! Anyhow, as long as u use a towel and pad ur face not rab and then u move on with a toner, booster even au thermal there is nothing to be worried of. Thats what my dermatologist advised me... (actually the water in my area is fine and I can skip to seum & moisturising and avoid so many chemicals).

Lol if my mom saw me using so many clean wash clothes like that every night.. I would prob get my ass kicked lol

Oils cannot hydrate , only water based products can , oils can only moisturize Hydration =water (hylauronic acid , aloe Vera etc.) Moisturize= oils ,occlusives (dimethicone, oils such as jojoba , olive , baobab) Not hating on her just some info .

Melissa Prins Yes dehydrated skin needs water , so try using a water based serum , some are marketed under oil free moisturizers . Some good ones I enjoy are the Clinique dramatically different hydrating jelly , and a cheaper alternative is the neutrogena hydro boost water gel (I prefer the fragrance free one , they have 2 options a sensitive one and a regular one )

+Melissa Prins Jackie Aina is a youtuber who I love. And she used to have very oily skin she swears by hyaluronic acid. She has a few skin care video talking about it. Desi skin I fairly normal so she doesn't have the same issues us oily girls run into with overproducing oils.

Melissa Prins well I have had super oily skin in the past and yes you must hydrate! So going with a gel moisturizer or something more water based is key! But an oil is great for keeping the hydration locked in so your skin won’t dehydrate! Use that with a toner around your oily areas and then the face oil! I use a Pacifica one that’s only $15 that I got at target and my skin is pretty normal now. Also using charcoal based products is good for oily skin like the bioré cleanser (:

Try using a toner after your cleanse and look. It’s not just to take off last bit of makeup but also there’s other benefits of toners

To all getting upset with Desi using the marula oil before her night cream: I have asked four aestethician's and two dermatologists regarding the order a face oil is applied in skincare and all six skincare professionals told me that it depends on the type of oil and how heavy it is and that also goes for the face cream/moisturizer. Some face oils are lighter in weight and should be applied to the face after serums and before the face cream. You should apply the cream at the end (before sunscreen, if it is in the AM routine). It gets more complicated because you also have to determine how heavy your moisturizer or face cream is. Some are lighter than others depending on their ingredients. Some creams/moisturizers contain occlusive ingredients and they are designed to keep the moisture in the skin. Then there are heavier oils that will not soak into the skin through the cream/moisturizer. Now, I am not a skincare professional so I may not have used all the absolutely correct terminology, but I think you get what I am saying. I know a lot of youtubers etc, have stated that the oil goes last, and I see this is sometimes contradicted within the community, so this is why I have been asking for clarification whenever I have a professional facial or see a dermatologist. So, I guess the bottom line is that there is no hard and fast rule here; you will need to do some research to find out if the oil you are using is heavier than your face cream/moisturizer or not and then you can decide the order to apply it (I have read and heard that marula oil is a lighter oil, so perhaps that is why she is applying it before her night cream). And just to complicate things even more - some face oils are a combination of oils and other ingredients, like vitamin C, squalane, niacinimde etc, and they are a combo oil/serum, some feel this type of combination oil needs to be applied before the final cream. I hope this helps clarify the topic a little bit. I feel bad about how so many people are going after Desi for the way she applied her skincare. She was kind enough to share her routine with us. Thanks!

Jennifer Autry No. It goes cleanser(s), toner, mist/hydrosol, serum/treatments, moisturizer cream, oil, balm. Of course not all of these steps are required or used by everyone but that's the order as I understand it. The moisturizer/cream product goes BEFORE the oil.

You put water soluble products on first (toners, creams, serums, etc.) then oils. Oil will act as a barrier that will prevent anything from getting soaked into your skin. So that bougie face cream she's using is literally a giant waste of money lol

Expensive for no reason...I don't know why it has such a high price point and why its called "luxury" oil. It's not as common as olive or coconut oil, but it's not worth the price. Cold press, unrefined, virgin oil can be bought for less.

Nia A agreed while i like a lot of their products I don't trust any brand that markets a virgin oil over 20 dollars. At that point you are paying for packaging, marketing, pr, and just yr usual retail markups rather than the actual product. For face oils I typically buy in bulk and make my own (except for the sunday riley ufo which has ingredients that are less easily accessible, that is the one face oil ill buy)!

No haha, an oil will still block the other ingredients, its science, you should really look more into it, the oil should be last, you can mix everything else in a cocktail but put the oil on last

You should typically massage the oil cleanser into dry skin, then emulsify it with water and massage and wash off. That is the process that actually helps to break up and dissolve the makeup or build up on your face.

Tui Guy-Williams I agree about her not rinsing the oil cleanser but she used the facial oil the right way. She used the oil as a moisturizer itself so that's what it'll do and applied the night treatment/mask at the last and night masks are ALWAYS the last step. You don't apply night mask before your moisturizer, do you?

My routine: use wipes, wash &moisturize.
