Desert X Soyh America road trip day 7 Salento to Popayan around 354 KM mostly following the Panamericana Highway. Busy roads, sugar cane lorries and lots of traffic. Roads are variable with good sections of dual carriage ways down to two lane. Lorries especially the sugar cane lorries are slow moving and can have 5+ trailers so watch out! Lots of minor road works which slow up traffic. Popayan is very busy lots of traffic, buses take no prisoners. So watch out!
Final destination Hotel Dann Monasterio at convent now a hotel we arrived safely and said a prayer. Popayán, known as 'The White City', we wandered around the colonial streets at night grabbing some food in a local bar. The centre has white stone buildings and churches.
Long ride very busy in places.
