Welcome to a very special episode of the Taylor Soundcheck Sessions, featuring punk-rock legends Descendents playing a trio of their classics in an unplugged acoustic setting for the very first time. In this rare, intimate performance, we're joined by vocalist Milo Aukerman, guitarist Stephen Egerton (playing a Taylor GT 811e) and bassist Karl Alvarez (playing a Taylor GS Mini-e Maple Bass), who play acoustic renditions of "Hope," "Like the Way I Know," and "Lucky." The band also chats about the inspiration behind the songs and the band history that helped shape their highly influential sound.

I love him and Tony Lombardo, but overall I prefer The Music Karl Made and the playing of Tony, I also really like the dude who played on Enjoy, I don’t know his name but it was pretty good

I've been a Descendents fan for over 30 years. Never heard these acoustic. They need an acoustic album! You can feel the emotion so clearly.

Some truly awesome human at Taylor said "we should get the Descendents to play an acoustic set" and actually made it happen. This was outstanding. #PrideOurselvesOnBringingTheRock
Man they sound so good acoustically it sounds so natural and not forced wouldn’t mind an acoustic album or a few songs acoustically from them
I love that they played Lucky. One of my favorite Descendents songs, pretty underrated.

you can have punk rock without a bass, but why risk it. Foundational band for me. Love seeing this.
the first time that descendents on so many years, record something in acoustic, definitely an undervalued band.
I would have loved to hear "Ride the Wild". This is AWESOME
Stephens voice is so good I wish he did more background vocals

When I listened Hope for the first time, so many years ago, my bad english did not permit me to understand Milo was talking about a girl.. I just heard 'my day will come.. I'll be the only one'.. Deep concepts for all the adolescents from every country and time, and immediatly I recognized Hope as a classic.. one of the greatest song ever written

Saw them live 3 weeks ago and my exact thought just watching them on stage was "how amazing seeing these old dudes still rockin'"
It's nice to hear some of the subtle nuances of songs when performed on acoustics. I've been listening to Descendents and ALL since the 80's and there's always a message they tell in story of that I may have also endured or enjoyed. This band and members will always be one of rock history's most influential artists. Milo☆, Steph☆, Karl☆, Bill☆ carry on. I've played alot of Acoustic guitars in my time, and I can honestly say that Taylor makes the best playing, and best sounding Acoustic guitars! I got my Taylor 3 years ago and I really don't want any other Acoustic guitars, I am happy to have mine and I love it!

Great performance here! It was fun to hear them mix it up with the acoustic set. But most of all, I really enjoyed the storytelling aspect and the insights they gave. I saw ALL back in 2002 and still hope to one day see the Descendents in concert.

Freaking Love The Descendents!! Karl is definitely a Awesome Bass player!! Speaking of Bass Lol.. What a weird looking little Bass but it'd be So awesome to have one! Many years ago I had a Acoustic Bass that I'd leave on a Guitar Stand in my room (Securely of course lol) and if I had some sort of Bass Line or a Bass Melody going on in my head I could quickly grab that Acoustic Bass and Translate it to the Bass. It was a Epiphone El Capitan.. it was big and Bulky and it sounded ok but not great. I'm gonna have to look into these little Taylor Acoustic Bass guitars 🤘
