Fun fact: D-Henry was almost cut/traded a couple of years into his rookie contract. At one point he was leading the league in rushes for a loss. He then got together with Eddie George for a "talk" on his running style...and the rest is history. He's been beasting it ever since

To make a long story short, Eddie George basically told him to "take what the defense gives you"...he saw that Henry was always trying to take every run to the house, instead of taking the yards that were available...with Henry's size, just forcing the defense to tackle you 20+ times a game is going to tire them out, make them not want to tackle him, and create those openings he was trying to force open early in his career. And Henry's been an absolute monster ever since. Titan Up!

As a huge Bama fan, Derrick Henry will always be my favorite Tide player. I will never forget watching him dominate teams in the 3rd and 4th quarter in 2011-2012. Once the defenses got tired, he would just start hammering them. He would break a 50+ yard TD run basically every game. It was so much fun watching him because you KNEW one of his runs would break loose and he’d be gone. He is so fast. Way faster than he looks. I think the play in this video where he runs past the Mississippi State defender down the sideline shows that the best. It was a safety that thought he had an angle on him, but Henry is so fast he just ran right by him. Also, that 99 yard run for the Titans still gives me chills. He definitely has the best stiff arm I’ve ever seen.
