    Yes to Botox video please. I asked my derm for a recommendation for a good anti-wrinkle eye cream and she recommended Botox. (I’m 30 years old.) She said Botox is the best for stopping wrinkles before you start to get them. I was shocked that was her one and only response to my question.

    I asked my derm if I should do a chemical peel for my chest wrinkles. He said Botox. It did NOT work, even temporarily. I paid $600. Cash grab! This was in my 30s. I should’ve started using Tretinoin. But I did switch derms after that.

    @@galato4234 no, it's not bad! It's just that it's only useful for as long as you use it (and only certain types of hair loss), so it's not like it stimulates hair growth & you're set. Once you stop, the hair goes away again. Plus it's not super cheap either. And I just don't like the idea of being dependent on something that requires that kind of lifetime commitment. I'm afraid I'll get used to having my hair back, and then one day I start getting a little lazy or maybe simply can't afford it & boom, the trauma of losing it all over again 😔 Everyone is diff though and some people don't mind. It can definitely be effective though! I haven't used it though, so you should look into some hair loss communities for more info about what it's like. They're prob way more informed than I am 🙃

    With all due respect, "Dr" Dray is basically an infomercial channel, misleading titles and the same pitch on a loop! She contradicts herself continuously. One minute she's selling coffee and the next, she's out getting coffee. Any time she is challenged or questioned in regards to her "career" status, she blocks and deletes! Imagine being under the care of a healthcare provider with such a lack of Facilitating a discussion, yet she feels at liberty to voice her opinions freely?

    @Brook Lily I’ve been watching Dr Dray from the beginning and I get what you’re saying, so many sponsorships is something that makes one go “hmmm 🤔”. However, when her common sense and my common sense align in terms of routines or products, the results for me have been great. Same with others I know, I share tips I used from Dr Dray and each person had a little bit of improvement. I can understand why people don’t watch her, but for me it’s worth hearing the infomercials for the gold nuggets she gives sometimes.

  • @brooklily7150

    @@msi8311 yeah, I missed the gold nuggets? Wear SPF because the sun can cause premature aging and sunburns, AHA exfoliate, dandruff shampoo is great for scalp conditions and lash glue causes eye irritation. That's pretty much the entire channel in a nutshell, on a loop other than latching on a celebrity topic or another Derm channel. Common sense should tell you that a Dr. Whom spends her days in the Dollar Tree and Target lack the ability to practice medicine! Reciting medical journals in front of a camera in-between a Yoga workout...not exactly what I'm seeking in way of healthcare providers! Don't forget to put your helmet and gloves on right after you slather some Vaseline on your eyelids! But she's not one for traditional, "old school" practices....then proceeds to mention that Vaseline has been around for 100 years👍

    I can definitely attest to the fact that an impaired barrier will make basically *any* sunscreen sting. That’s the first way I notice if I have an issue: my normal stuff starts to sting. As soon as I’m in a better spot, I can use any of my sunscreens, no issue. I’ll start to convince myself sometimes that that sunscreen is causing irritation. Important to remember that often it’s your barrier, not the product.

    Yes! We love Q & A videos. Here’s one for the next segment. I’ve always heard that retinoids should be avoided while pregnant. But I was on the Osmosis website and they actually state that both of their retinaldehyde creams are pregnancy safe. How can this be? Are retinoids kind of like BHA, where some derms think it’s ok in low % and others just shy away to be sure?

    I don’t think having rosacea means having sensitive skin. I know my mom has it but she has never mentioned having sensitive skin but she also never really used skincare. I’m only 18 but I’m pretty sure i’m developing rosacea too. My skin can tolerate pretty much anything. I went very quick into retinal but i’ve never had any negative reactions. I just know that warmth and alcohol can make it flare up

How long, if at all, do we need to wait after applying vitamin C or a retinoid, before moving to the next product like moisturizer? I heard that because of pH (vit C) and conversion times (retinoids), it’s necessary to wait 5-30 mins.

    I'd be interested to hear your opinion on using estrogen cream on the face. I see this idea often on KZread -- sometimes by other dermatologists. Is estrogen safe on the facial and neck skin? My gynecologist says she won't comment or share her thoughts on this with me because estrogen cream for the face isn't FDA approved.

    I just use a new wash cloth each bath. And I let them hang dry on a hanger in my closet, then put them in the dirty laundry when dry (just so I don't have a bunch of wet cloths fermenting in my laundry 🤮)

    I'm guessing the person who asked about the 3-5 month thing with tretinoin was mixing it up with isotretinoin. Isotretinoin, aka accutane, is usually a roughly five month course. Tretinoin is a topical formulation and can be used indefinitely 👍

    I am not a dr but as someone who does get Botox, I would suggest NOT doing it for the 1st time right before wedding. Most people are pleased with results from botox but occasionally I have heard people who didnt like the way it made them look. I would suggest doing it 4-6 months before event, and if you like results, do it again about 2-4 weeks before (the effect is not immediate). I am 44 and have been getting botox for about 1.5 year. I love it and wish I would have started a little sooner. Good luck! 🙂

    Great video Dr. Ellis! I have a question about continual use of Retina A. Does it thin the skin over time or is this a myth? I am 53 and have been using it for years but have heard it can thin the skin. Would be delighted to know your thoughts on this topic. Thanks!

  • @DrSamEllis

    @DrSamEllis

    Absolutely a myth! It thins only the outermost dead layer of skin cells (which is why it gives you a glow!) and then thickens the deeper layers of skin which is what gives your skin structure, support, hydration, and decreased laxity.

    I hear a lot about retinol and retinoic acids, (adapalene and tretinoin), but what about retinals (retinaldehyde)? Isn't that the strength that bridges the first two? Is there more benefit to using that as the step before tretinoin?
