This happened to me also. Plus, anything I put on my skin stung/burned. I was very light handed as well. I’ll keep the lil micro hairs. It took days to get back to normal. GL with your process. I hope you find what works for you.

Vellus hair is there for a reason, it helps draw oil and moisture away from the skin, traps dust and dirt before it reaches your skin and regulates body temperature. Without it oils, dirt and bacteria just land straight onto your pores instead of the protective layer of vellus which can indeed cause worse skin in the long run.

That's not even valid to say... It's not done because people are insecure about peach fuzz, it's because a.) you get a flawless makeup application (foundation sticks to peach fuzz and looks yuck) and b. It makes your skincare actually work... Hair is very absorbing and it will suck up the beneficial ingredients in skincare before your skin gets to.

First if youre worried about skin your pores will clog like a mf without hair, Second you better be wearing SPF daily because sun is gonna go directly into your skin with nothing stopping it, Third youre gonna breakout and maybe even develop a skin condition because there is nothing to defend your skin from dirt, debris, UV, or anything else that might harm you. I have been doing it for years too. It's not for everyone, and it does require some research to do it safely and effectively. If you are wearing a good sunscreen, which SHOULD be happening unless you want premature wrinkles and leathery skin, and skin cancer, you can absolutely go outside. Retinoids and other skincare products absorb better into the skin. But hey, if you don't like it, don't do it. Easy peasy.

An alternative you can use is the little dermabrasion stick by Revlon. It's got a textured metal surface you can rub lightly on your skin to exfoliate, but it's not rough enough to actually hurt you. No risk of cuts and as long as you keep it clean you shouldn't break out (it's easy to sanitize that surface).

Perfect for any skin type. I also use it on my arms (don’t try under your armpits though). When I shave in the shower with my regular disposable razor, and I miss hairs, I use the electric razor. It will save you tons of money and your skin won’t be red. Marilyn Monroe kept her peach fuzz because it gave a glow when the lights hit it a certain way. ❤ Be safe and gentle to your skin!

Then I’ll wash it, you can use any kind of face wash like an exfoliant or acne wash. This is extra but I spray on at least some toner after I’m done. My skin is very prone to acne, so I avoid touching my face or from using too much moisturizer (it can clog your pores). When you shave your face your skin becomes more vulnerable so really just try to find a way to work with it 😭

My skin gets red just when it gets wet. I'm very sensitive and my skin still gets red after dermaplaning but I use I'm From pear serum and calming pads afterwards. I also do it at night about an hour before bed so my skin can recover while I sleep. In the morning it looks and feels great. Each time I do it, my skin's reaction gets less extreme. Either I'm getting better at it or my skin is getting used to it.

Idk, as a trans woman who has much thicker and faster growing facial hair than the average cis woman does, I've gotten really used to having a bit of growth by the end of the day and even still ppl don't seem to notice it, especially when I'm doing pretty standard skincare and light makeup. This just feels like a new way for beauty companies to commodify women's insecurities and make us strip our faces of protective layers

The comments saying, "keep your hair it protects your skin!!"... it's completely fine if you do it right. I've done this for years, and I've learned a lot. - I don't do it when I have active acne (chance of spreading bacteria!) - I go makeup-free the day before and after dermaplanning. - I have a gentle skincare routine with SUNSCREEN every morning! And don't do it just because you feel like you need to. You look good either way!
