Alright so they've added fog, DENSER fog, rain, thunder, night, abandoned cars, a lantern, and a flashlight. The trains were just a distraction, it's a horror game.

The new Hydraulics look roughly like the west German V100/V90 locomotives, still in use as the Baureihe 290. The three axle one, then, might be a 362. I hope they've made the Diesel Hydraulic "properly"

The devs said in the comments that the new locomotive is called the DH4

I feel that Trainz is going to have some pretty big competition with this update. Take note, Auran.

As a person who plays Trainz for 20+ years Auran went out of business years ago and Trainz is now the property of N3V, whose CEO, Tony Hillman, was a big fan of Trainz, so when Auran went bankrupt, Tony bought the rights to Trainz, and brought all the developers over to N3V, where most are still working there.

@@anindrapratama unfortunately, the new game engine for Trainz, E2, is not designed with derailments in mind. Tony Hillman has stated in a post on the Trainz Discussion Forums that to implement derailments would require a massive rewrite of the game engine.

During half the clips I was thinking of how much Kenosha you'll produce with dense fog, pitch black nights, overloading traction motors and reduced traction on wet rails.

I don't even play DV and this got me excited! It's cool to see so many fun features added to a game, and be communicated so well.

The plants swaying in the wind look quite realistic.

This is actually simulator territory , hands off to the skilled DV devs

Imagine going 80 through a yard at night, in the fog, in the rain, with visibility of about 5 yards. And then suddenly there's a 12 car consist of derailed tankers you forgot about.

I swear we’re in a golden age of train sims rn. This looks super ambitious, but it looks like they’re gonna pull it off! SimRail just came out as well, and Railroader looks pretty good for the American market. The future is bright! Now we just need a worthy successor to Railroad Tycoon 3…

ya... a new Tycoon style game would be AMAZING . but RUN8 is currently the best HARDCORE simulator for 90s american trains OK graphics, but AMAZING!!! physics (as in, coupler slack action, simulating the air brake valves, reservoirs, and leaks...etc) . . . if your idea of fun is running trains EXACTLY as you do in real life.... get RUN8 if your idea of fun is good graphics and goofing around.... dont get RUN8 . its like ARMA 2/3 versus Squad . run8 is like arma (or sorta like red dead redemption 2).... kinda clunky, graphics arnt the focus...... but the simulation is ON POINT (even to the point of being TOO realistic) while most other train sims have way better graphics, allow you to goof off more, ETC...... but you can NEVER break couplers . broke a LOT of couplers in RUN8 trying to pull on 1.7 mile long trains LOL

I asked for those dust particles years back! I'm glad they kept it in mind! Seems like a community friendly game!

I'm so hyped for the red 4 axle diesel. It looks like exactly like a German diesel-hydraulic V100. If they model it to real world parameters it'll be the perfect size for speeds and cargo volumes. Should also be one of the few locos still able to use remote control.

It is amazing how much the game has changed from what it originally was, a simplistic vr rail game.

As for the fog effect, it is too realistic. Storytime: While working as an engineer for the Cape May Seashore Lines (a 27-mile regional shortline in southern New Jersey) I was running two BUDD RDCs back from a Halloween show and the fog got so thick that I lost all my landmarks. I passed one grade crossing and there was another about a half mile down the tracks. I knew I was close so I just started "blowing like hell" for that crossing. We were using old PRR position light assemblies for the lights to tell the engineer the grade crossing was working as intended. Those signals have "fog penetrating yellow" lenses but I didn't see it until I was about 250 feet from the crossing. It is unnerving to not where you are when running two full BUDD cars full of passengers and you know you have a public grade crossing coming up. Obviously, I couldn't dim my headlight so all I had was a white wall in front of me due to the headlight being on bright. Each BUDD car weighs `60 tons and holds 88 passengers each.

Man, I thought I was excited for that single roundabout in Harbor and Town from the overhauled update, but this update looks so much better!

The new red diesel, the DH4 I think?, looks to me like a slightly chibi-fied DB V100 German freight diesel. Makes sense given most of this game has a mildly Eastern Central European vibe to it.

It was fun to see Hyce not noticing the sneak peeks of the new DH4 [diesel-hydraulic 4 powered axles] (the red loco) until later on, on the video. Plus he completely missed the seak peek of the other new diesel, the DM3 [diesel-mecanical 3 powered axles] (the blue rusty loco idling on the compressor video) which, has been confirmed by the devs in a comment, to be the oldest diesel engine type on the valley (thus beeing in lesser repair and rusting). The only 2 new vehicles not yet shown, are the slug (based on a DE6 chassis) and the new steam shunter S060 (based on the US S100 class)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw the diesel hose shot and immediately thought "...when this comes out, I'm putting the lighter to it".

the VR experience for this game with all the improvements will be insane, the game looks amazing in VR now but with the simulator update, it'll be an even better

This game brings me happiness and I'm excited to see what shenanigans Hyce gets into. Am becoming a journyist for the company I work at. Our MP36-3c locomotives will actually cut out individual traction meters when they flash over. Limiting the trains to 25 MPH. I'm surprised there wasn't a comment from hyce about the blue locomotive teaser at the end of the air compressor short.

"Hey potato laptop! Did you see Hyce's reaction to Derail Valley Sim...why are you shaking? ...hey! Where are you going? Come back! I know you practically catch fire running RRO... I promise I wont put the graphics up too much! Wait! Come back!"

I need Hyce to play this in VR!

yeah being at work near the nashville hump yard at 3 AM with a massive fog bank and just hearing the screeching breaks in the distance and thinking when did i get into this horror movie

I'm most excited for the dynamic puddles.. And the crossroads that don't work and the cars that have been scattered around the place with the funny anecdote of perhaps one day they'll move.

I think that with The new weather effects, flashlights... They are slowly turning this game into a horror game.

Actually, the Derail Valley devs put the shorts together. If you go into Steam, you can see the entire video (sans Hyce) in their latest post.

Everyones talking about this being more of a horror game with the darker atmosphere, imagine a zombie survival. Scavenging fuel and train cars, trying to escape the infected area. Trying to escape a sticky spot and derailing, forcing you to fight on foot until you find a new train.

Man, this looks exciting. It'll be fun to watch your gameplay once this comes out. I wonder if stable multiplayer is on their roadmap, because I could see a lot of fun with that.

Hyce when you play the new update think about the fees after each run compared to now and once a while you can blow things up but jobs go first then fun.

Yes, and yes Steam simulation has been redone entirely to be better. Aditionally, apart from a redone mikado SH282 (to get better and more controls and gauges to make it more realistic) they are adding a steam shunter S060 (based on the US army S100 loco that went all over europe).

@@diegokevin3824 The SH282 is said to be unintentionally modeled after the USATC S118. So having another USATC locomotive will be nice. However, an S160 would be cool.

fact you probably know by this point: the new locomotives (at least 3 of them, a b unit comes as well) SO60 steam shunter DH4 (red DB V90 locomotive) DE6 slug b-unit DM3 diesel shunter and also a sandbox mode

I just had a thought. if they're gonna do a short every day until release, each one needs to be on a new feature coming in the update right? So either the release is closer than we think or there are A LOT, like a lot a lot, of new features coming

Easily my favorite update coming with simulator (that they have announced) is the MU servicing. Vericing half a dozen diesels takes it out of you.

I just downloaded Train Sim World 3 via the Xbox Game Pass. My son was playing the other day and the game looks good.

The new locomotive looks alot like the german V100 Diesel Hydraulic locomotive, im from germany and i loooovvveee seeing those V100. Im very excited and hyped to finaly see that beauty in the game!

4:58 ok, that is REALLY cool (something my favorite HARDCORE sim... RUN8.... doesn't have......RUN8 has rain and wipers, but not physics driven rain) . the fact the drops/streaks kinda "wiggle" when the wiper moves past them.....and you get that "solid bead" at the edge of the wiper..... AMAZING!!! that looks EXACTLY like the wipers on my car in a storm . (aka, EXACTLY like real life..... and not just the same animation played over and over and over and over... like in most games, train sim or not) . . . ALL!!!! games need water and wiper physics like that its one of those SMALL!!! things that adds a MASSIVE!!! amount of immersion . you could tell me that was in real life (if the graphics were THAT good)..... and i would not know the difference . like, its obvious that its a computer game.... graphics are damn good, but not 50 million dollar movie good.... ya know what i mean? however.... if ya squint JUST A BIT.... it looks 100% real (the physics are doing more for immersion than the graphics in this case..... at least for me) . . . OMG!!!... that rain is simply AMAZING!!!!!! i could go on and on about this new tech (and i have.... look above LOL...... but i could do 10X this LOL) . simply stunning

a day in RUN8 is 24 hours......... and the weather is actually "imported" from real weather stations you can also set/override it.... to be what you want (time, day, and weather...... even the stars will move depending on the month you set) . and RUN8 is still improving the weather system (we all want to see big Thunder storms.... like super cells...... instead of a big mass of clouds that kinda look like a super cell)

Hum, rain and windshield wipers in a simulator mode? Does that mean that those will be able to break and never actually get repaired, just to further realism? With the improvements to the MU cables they have, I hope that the passenger cars integrate them and control cars exist somehow, because that would be neat. Particularity with multiplayer via mods, so I can cry about Class 2 Brake tests in games too

Some cool mods .. still wanna see Crown sheet failure and rock slides

Okay that's it, I'm gonna need a new computer. This is the game I've been dreaming of for _so_ long and I _have_ to play it in VR!

I really, really thing they should think about making the remote "night-proof". IRL I uste a remote practically every night, and it's not sun charged, but rather has 2 battery charging ports in the loco, and in normal state in both are batteries. If I then want to swith to the remote, I select one of those and put it in. Then there are checks I have to perform bla bla bla. Where I wanna go is, that ALWAYS there is at least one Battery charging/charged, and if the current one is empty, I just switch it. Or I ask for a worker to be on the other end and we communicate via radio. BUT: when alone, the remote is my best friend

I remember in the summer of 2021 one time my mom got mad at me because I had been playing DV for about 8 hours straight and I intended to play for 8 hours more, the only other games that've ever challenged that in my life are Minecraft, and 2 or 3 roblox games

So, question for those who run full-size trains: if you lock the brakes up while moving and slide, do you actually slow down much, like this video shows? I’ve locked up PCC streetcar wheels multiple times, and that gives no braking whatsoever. It just makes a funny noise like whooshing leaves and you keep moving as if coasting.

You definitely do keep slowing down, just not near as fast as proper braking.

Good to see Simulator is getting that right. I guess the huge weight difference from streetcars to trains would explain some of that difference!
