Sills, who famously hated singing the Queen stated that she herself only sang it perfectly one time and wrote in one of her autobiographies "At any given time only about 5 sopranos in the world can sing this role."Ms. Curtain is now one of the five.

The translation we used for this production: Within my heart the fire of hell is burning You shall avenge me! You shall repay the tyrant for his crimes Hear now your task: Sarastro must be murdered And if you fail you'll be no child of mine I'll banish you forever Abandon you forever Renounce at last forever all that bound you once to me Now hear, now hear Oh, Gods of vengeance, hear me! You shall avenge me, Hear what I decree!

If the sound quality would better, this performance be perfect! You've made such a brilliant work! This aria is one of the most difficult to sing in a world! And you've "hit" it with such energy and accurate! Bravo! And now i like the English version of this song cause it's sounds good, really! German and English are related languages.

triple points to this soprano for (1) singing it and (2) singing it while having to lug around a costume so she doesn't trip over!! As if she hasn't got enough to think about with this aria as it is!

@@kellycurtinsoprano The English version is my favorite cause I (Baritenor & Multi-Instrumentalist) would do a Tenor version as a special item. Here's the Tenor version:kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaGrubJumamvj6Q.html but you'll hear that the Tenor vocalist changed out some of the lyrics to make it more appropriate for Tenors, Countertenors, Baritones, Basses, & Bass Baritones.

VERY impressive!!! One rarely hears a truly good Queen of the Night! But Kelly Curtin definitely falls into this category!! In fact, her performance greatly reminds me of Edda Moser, who in my opinion is the greatest Queen of all time. Kelly comes VERY close, and is FAR BETTER than any of the contemporary sopranos who are well known for this role!!!

No microphones? How do you do that? Opera singers are awesome.
@mattwood1562
Жыл бұрын
They’re definitely using microphones against that loud backdrop of music. There’s two options: 1) It’s a microphone concealed in their elaborate wigs, which is the most likely option. 2) They’ve used microphones on the stage itself, which is possible due to the sheer level of projection that Opera singers have. (There’s one final option, which is that they’re performing in an older theatre which predates microphones, in which case it was designed to project vocalists’ performances through careful and meticulously planned acoustics. That’s also the case with older churches & cathedrals, which needed to project the voices of choirs all the way to the back)
