Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland holds a news conference in Toronto to highlight the Canadian Infrastructure Bank's investments of more than $2 billion to provide rural and remote Canadian households with high-speed internet.
She then takes questions from reporters, discussing the results of the June 24 byelection in Toronto-St. Paul's. Conservative candidate Don Stewart scored an upset win over Liberal candidate Leslie Church by a margin of 42.1% to 40.5% in the historically Liberal-held riding. The deputy prime minister reiterates her support for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau following the loss.
