Deputy Festus Haggen Origin

Ойын-сауық

This video focuses on the beginning of Festus Haggen while in Dodge City after joining forces with lawman Marshal Matt Dilion.
Festus was patterned after "Cedar Jack" (Frederick Munden), a man from Curtis' Las Animas childhood. Cedar Jack, who lived 15 miles south of town, made a living cutting cedar fence posts. Curtis observed many times that Jack came to Las Animas, where he would often end up drunk and in Curtis' father's jail. Festus' character was known, in part, for the nasally, twangy, rural accent which Curtis developed for the role, but which did not reflect Curtis' actual voice. (Wikipedia 2016).

I saw Ken Curtis years ago as Festus performing at the Rutland fair, he sang old cowboy songs and told jokes and stories. One story that comes to mind is, how an uncle of his after spending too much time at the long Branch came home a little confused and missed the house completely and ended up in the pig pen snuggle up with a old sow. While rubbing her belly thinking he was in his own bed he made a comment on how he didn't recall a double row of buttons on his wife's night gown.

I also loved Everything "Denver Pyle" acted in , Too. Pyle was also a Great "character" actor in All parts he played in. Few are Actually good at that & many get '''stuck" in the same 'character' roles they Did play in . Happened to DENNIS WEAVER (aka Chester Goode") & nearly ruined his career. Met him once thru his nephew (Archer Weaver) who I sang & played with in a 'coffee house' band back in the 60s' . Went to Weavers house 2 times. He was very spiritual (had a dedicated room for his 'Buddhist' meditations.), was kind , a Philosopher & true 'Renaissance' man. Invited me to meet him at "the 'Mushroom' temple, (which I did). That's where I 1st learned about "Paramahansa Yogananda" (sp)? . Also had the famous Sitar"Ravi Shankar" who's Also "Nora Jones" father. "Ravi" played there all that day. I continued going there for several years after I left La Jolla & moved to Colorado. That is where Weaver built the 1st bio 'Earth House" he named "The Earth Ship". Built it in Ridgeway, Colorado, (near Telluride). Also did Many other '1sts'. But, again got 'stuck'. Only made 2 more movies after he left Gunsmoke. 1 was about a 'horse-riding' Marshal in New York (If I recall correctly), then a Twilight zone movie (or maybe filmed by some else) that had no Words, just a film about a car driven by 'Weaver" who had s 'Semi" following him, hassle-ing him & trying to Run him off the highway. Both flopped quickly as no people could get 'Chester' out of their visual memories. Was too bad & too sad, as he Was a very Great actor.''

This is happening to many, many shows due to the dozen or more streaming companies that are buying the rights to 100's of shows, and making sure that everyone pays to see any episode of any show! KZread will soon be gone as far as thousands of free show to watch, and they have their own channel!. Listen to this episode! Some music has been added, and the episode isn't complete! Disgusting! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Watching this episode on tv right now! But there’s no comment section there. 🥺 This is my second favorite Festus episode ever! It’s the introduction of Festus aka Ken Curtis irl: ❤️❤️❤️ him! Another great/favorite actor: Denver Pyle! Worth having him play the bad guy so i can have both awesome guys in the same episode! In addition to meeting Festus, we’re also meeting his eventual woman April aka Elizabeth MacRae irl! i ❤️ them together! My _FAVORITE_ Festus episode doesn’t include April bc Festus needs to be single in this one so he can run around chasing women with Quint aka Burt Reynolds irl! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ken and Burt are *TERRIFIC* together in _Comanches Is Soft_ s9 ep23! 🤣 They were the perfect “buddies” together! 🙆🏻‍♀️ lol sorry, this episode is making me want to see _that_ episode! So anyhoo. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🙄 Aww, here’s the end: DOC (ab Festus): “He’s really at the crossroads, ain’t he?” MATT: “Yeah.” DOC: “Wonder which way he’s gonna turn?” MATT: “i dunno Doc? She (April) hasn’t told him yet!” AWWW!! Soo _ADORABLE!!_ 🥰 WELCOME FESTUS! 🥳
