For me personally this is their final masterwork...they had a lot good records,but this one has blown me away,so good...what a mix of styles...nearly Krautrocking and so fresh ! Im sure many see that the same way ! Thanks for sharing ;)

I'd say this is the last "good depeche mode album". In my opinion their last masterwork was SOFAD. I would call Ultra and Playing the angel very good, but a notch below the Alan Wilder albums. sound of the universe isn't too bad now that i'm listening to it again. better than i remember at least!

MK R Sound of the Universe has krautrock influences from one of the members...he is vinyl collector and has a huge knowledge of music,rare albums and marely unknow genres but he was doing that so careful...i love this album,because it has shown a wider spectrum of their abillities,you know...that they are sounding good even with atypic style mixes is the evidence for their former geniality...Ultra was great,yes...SOFAD too...they became in the nineties better with each album...i am normally not so much into commercial pop music...but maybe they were wrongly seen as a part of the pop circus...like some other ninties cracks...synth pop dont fit anymore...what they did was more dark,suspenseful and adult...well,may it be as it may be...i love the band even as a rock fan and note them as electronic rockers,hahaha ;-)

You mean the DM albums where Wilder was involved,i suppose...i misunderstood,i thought you mean he did some solo albums,haha,my mistake ! After reading i noted and got the meaning :-)

Nice album, but it doesn't have such vivid hit songs like most of the 1980s albums did.

No no...i have already some best of compilations of them...and i heard their eighties stuff too...i was around eighteen as i heard everything counts )in large amounts),people are people and other hits of that decade,and i was liking it a lot,also some older OMD,Eurythmics and Talk Talk stuff,and i buyed the cd's of them...i have some old vinyls too,and i still like to hear them ! The one you suggest me,i saw in a shop,but in switzerland it was fu...ing too expensive,so i didnt buyed it back then...it was issued around the millenium,if i remeber right...maybe i will buy it now in spain,where i live recently...thanks for suggesting me,i have open ears and mind and appreciate your effort ! Or i can share it with a friend,who knows ;-)
