I adore Allan, just from this clip. I saw him in the USSR in 1991. If he had been my piano teacher, I would not have missed a single lesson in 6 years. He is the god of sound. In my understanding, he is a true Briton: modest, well-mannered, reserved with humor, self-sufficient. But if Clark and Flecher hadn't started the group...

Indeed - but the Beatles-esque quality of the song is thusly enhanced. Wasn't Alan just divine as a faux redhead? A cocky synth genius straight out of the gate, and with such pretty, delicate and eminently useful fingers... !

I love this song. This whole album (A Broken Frame) gets forgotten. So many good songs. And they are so young and cute here. And didn't think Alan couldn't impress me anymore, but he is just SO awesome. I love it...

The Punks at my comp used to sing this through the dodgy wooden door to my very old very eccentric art teacher in 1982 only changed the lyrics to 'All I wanna do is Screw you' ah happy days!!! Great song

I'm on my balcony having a cig thinking "see you, live, sounds good about now". I start playing it and a wasp starts harassing me. I then spend 2 minutes trying to fight off a wasp to a depeche mode soundtrack. It's a pretty intense song during a wasp fight.

This is the first clip I saw of DM. At the beginning they show Allan playing. I was studying piano at a music school then and I was painfully familiar with finger placement. And it struck me: he practically doesn’t look at the keyboard.
