Please do appreciate such efforts instead of criticizing the SQ etc. This is a treat and let’s enjoy it. Also remember that such concerts doesn’t come along everytime and whoever recorded this already to some extent has sacrificed enjoying that magnificent concert.
Man! The Devotional Tour was undoubtedly their best! Performance, stage design, visuals, setlist everything just came perfectly together on this one! SO happy I got to see them twice on that tour over here in Europe! Still getting chills watching this! Wow just WOW! Thanks for the upload!

This is what I don't get. They were _so_ brilliant in the 80s and 90s but barely got any attention and were ignored or treated with derision. Yet now they're stadium rock superstars and appear on American chat shows, the press praises them and their tours are massively successful. It baffles me why they're so big now yet weren't back then (especially here in the UK, where their popularity seemed to fizzle out after Vince Clarke left and most people had forgotten about them or thought they'd split by the end of the decade - you'd think 'Violator' never existed given the complete lack of promotion). I can only think that it's because they're more of a stadium rock band now and have cultivated a broader appeal. Or, over the years, people have looked back at the band and belatedly realized how brilliant they were. Sorry for rambling, but it's so weird to me how their 21st century tours are more popular than the WVT or Devotional.

they were seen as outcasts yet played massive 20 000 arenas from 1986 and stadiums since 1988. but i think its the the amount of times you think oh they are gone now, they arent in their prime both in sound and show on stage anymore and yet they still do stadiums to this very day they sold out friends stadium with 54 000 seat capacity here in stockholm now in 2023 like it was nothing. And i think that is what makes them so special because when you think they gone they come back and sell out massive arenas and stadiums just to prove you wrong

Me, too! Amazing show!
I was sitting opposite of this angle. Such a powerful album and a new approach for Depeche Mode. It was only the previous tour that Dave was sporting a crew cut and there were no drum kits before, only random objects Fletch would bang on to trigger samples. This was the one that they really took themselves to the next level and they did it without sacrificing who they were. One of the many high points in their journey. I also remember, there was a highway accident on the way out of town that caused traffic to stop and some guy in a limo was blaring DM and giving mixed drinks to everyone, hosting a roadtop dance party while the road crews were cleaning up the wreck.
Thanks so much for filming this and for the quality. I only wish that the Philadelphia show from 1990 was available in such good quality. (Much as I love 'Devotional', the WVT is my dream time-travel concert - I hate that the band/management refuse to release the footage.) Also, even though I've watched 'Devotional' many times, good-quality bootlegs like this are worth watching to get a sense of what it was like to actually be there. Sadly, I was too young in the 80s/early 90s to be aware of DM, so bootlegs like this are the closest I'll ever get to seeing the, IMO, classic years. (I saw the band in 2009 but didn't enjoy it - mainly because of the line-up, but I won't go there...)
Ah, thanks for the great memory! I loved this tour. I love the intro, the live versions of all these songs. I was there somewhere! Going to see them tonight@Wells Fargo.

So awesome seeing footage from this tour. My brother and I saw them on this tour in 1993-94. This was filmed in 1993, so any complaints about sound are just stupid. Considering how long ago it was filmed, 25 years to be exact, it's pretty f'n awesome. For those who missed DM during the 1980s and early 1990s when they were at the height of their powers, videos like this and the official videos including 101 and Devotional, are as close as your gonna get, so enjoy and stop whining!! @@jonise2524 Video cameras and film cameras were banned at concerts in those days. I had a mini 8mm VHS video camera which was about the size of thick paperback book. I think I remember smuggling my video camera in inside of an empty Tampon box - if a male security guard looked in your bag and saw a box of tampons, he wasn't about to make you open that box up! Also back then there were no metal detectors that you had to pass through - if there had been, I'm sure that box of tampons would have set off the detectors. LOL
