Deo Tibba Winter Expedition | Sonarpur Arohi | Rudra Prasad Halder | Rudra Prasad Chakraborty
Temperature -12° to -20° Celsius at Basecamp. At this altitude of 4400 meters, the accumulation of ice plasters is so horrible; Sometimes they have to swim across the ice level upto chest deep. A few days of stay in the world of snow. But they don't have peace. Snow fox, the unwanted strangers thieving all their foods and they detested nothing from meat, vegetables to chocolates, lozenges, biscuits etc. Throughout the day, the weather was chilled along with Blizzard. The cooking was arranged through digging holes in the ice. The area was totally silent - except the sound of avalanche at a distance at times. This was the surround of their temporary abode.
This is the story of Deotibba Expedition by Rudra Prasad Halder and Rudra Prasad Chakraborty. Winter expedition is very rare in India. An Expedition is defined as winter Expedition, if the expedition is between 21st December to 21st March from BC to BC. Manali is one of the coldest places of India. Snow fall is very rapid from January. The Winter Expedition will be very challenging, the team knew that. They prepared accordingly. They needed equipment like any other 8000 meter peak. They rented Avalanche Victim Detector, Snow Shoes ect. They shaped special equipment like Deadman, Deadboy from Kolkata. 25 days of activity from Manali to Manali. The city Manali was then totally covered with snow. The mountain is totally under the thick cover of ice. They have to tread that way in the world of snow. Temporary shelter in the remote areas. In this realm of ice and snow, Rudra and Rudra Junior started their Winter Expedition.
