    My dentist recommended using water and soap like you. But over time I've found I still get a bit of build up where the toothbrush just cant get to. So found this really interesting. Thanks for the open and honest review!

    What’s your opinion on the ingredients/toxicity of the pods? How effective is the device itself without the pods? I don’t like the idea of using pods for cleaning after looking into the ingredients but of course the results are hard to ignore.

    Hi! thanks for this awesome review! I heard that the pods don't really dry (unless you wipe them every time you use them) which creates bacteria so they don't actually clean your retainers. Is this true in your opinion?

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Valery for watching and for your question! No I don’t think that at all! That’s like saying a bar of soap has bacteria on from when you washed your hands last time. The tablet in the pod disinfects the retainers and bacteria so my understanding is that the pod is clean to put your retainers. I do wipe mine to dry it as well. I think if you were using the pod to clean your retainers with water only (no tablet) then yes it may harbour bacteria in. Hope this helped!! I made this video a few months ago but am still using my pod regularly :) love it!

    Hi Dima, thanks for providing this content - you mention towards the end that the instructions say not to use it every day, can you tell me a bit more about that please? Is that just the tablets, or the dental pod itself? Is there any reason why you shouldn't use it every day? Thank you for any advice you can give!

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hiya! it is designed to be used every day. I just personally do not use it every day as I don’t wear my retainer every single night so it doesn’t collect as much calculus. If you were to buy this for Invisalign appliances, I would recommend you use it every day as Invisalign has to be worn 22 hours/day meaning it will become quite grimey and stained. It just all depends on how often you wear your retainer/Invisalign trays! Glad you found it useful :)

    Is a retainer the same as a mouth guard that you wear at night to protect against teeth grinding?

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hiya! Yes they’re very similar (retainer is usually made of slightly thinner material) but this pod will work perfectly on those mouth guards too especially because they build up quite a bit of calculus on them too.

    It works best with the dental pod tablets but try the other ones from the stores as well! I found that the non dental pod ones sometimes left a bit of a film over the retainers

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    2 жыл бұрын

    Great question! I did try once with a different brand tablet but it didn’t dissolve fully in the pod even with slightly warmer water and left a residue on my retainer. Ultimately, the guarantees about killing 99.9% of bacteria is only with their tablets and appliance so I would advise to use the official one so you don’t damage the pod or your retainers. I’m not linked with the company at all, I bought the product myself and just did a review for you guys but you could contact the company via their website and find out! Thanks so much for watching :)

    Just get a quick cleaning denture or retainer cleaner. The Dental Pod Tablets work the best though imo, money no object. I personally use the Crest and Polident cleaners. Zima says they may corrode the Pod, but that is total horseshit in my experience. That being said, don't get solution in the plug. The device is not durable at all and that will likely brick it.

    Just a few questions: 1) How often should I use the pod? And the seperate cleaning tablets? 2) Should the water added to the pod be hot or cold? Or does it make no difference?

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    Ideally should be used every day if you’re wearing the retainers every day! Cleaning tablets need to be used every time you use the pod. The water should be warm (not hot and not cold). Hope you enjoy using it!

    Without the tablets the pod would just vibrate very fast so it would just be fast moving water. The tablets are essential to keep the retainers disinfected :)

    @@piratescaribbean111 what are your opinions on at-home retainer companies where you can make your own retainers like justretainers.com

  • @piratescaribbean111

    @piratescaribbean111

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ah sorry i must’ve misunderstood your first comment! I would definitely not recommend any at-home dental company. I will make a separate video about this especially focusing on “online Orthodontics” and the dangers of it and showing you some pictures of some horrific things that can go wrong! In fact, I have seen people who have had a simple retainer made online and have come 3 months later with something called an anterior open bite (huge gap at the front between their upper and lower teeth) because the teeth at the back over erupted due to poor retainers. and now the patient can’t bite down all the way at the front as they hit their teeth together at the back. Even though you may be attracted to the price or convenience of these at home companies, the fix for something like an anterior open bite can be very extensive and can even require orthognathic surgery to fix. You can have a look on KZread of some people’s experience recovering from orthognathic surgery - it’s not something simple! Even something such as a simple retainer can cause huge problems with your bite which can be very expensive to fix and to be honest, not all are fixable! You can end up with lifelong damage to your bite. I can make a separate video about it with examples to help people understand more :)
