@@crazy_ninja7434 I have all my teeth except one of my central incisor which I had a root canal done because of dead roots from little league baseball injury from a ground ball that hit a stone and the baseball popped up and hit my tooth and I guess that shock over a period of time killed the roots and the roots died, had the root canal done over a period of years my central incisor was getting loose as time went on that incisor fell out so in 2000 I got my bridge work done and it's been holding strong even since 👍🏿

Same here , it can cost $40, to $60,000 or more .

Dental work is so expensive today and many people do not have the funds for an implant. IMO there is too much of "get an implant" and not enough "let's discuss your options".

I went to a dentist about 7 years ago. On the first visit he just started pulling teeth. But the 3rd visit he pulled 12 teeth because they had cavities. Some were kind of bad but a crown could have fixed it. In the end he pulled my 4 front teeth on the top. I've been stuck with an ill fitting partial ever since. I despise it. I have to use fixodent just to eat a sandwich. Now I'm seeing a new dentist and had my records forwarded and the new dentist said every single tooth could have been saved. But the new dentist is doing a bridge with 1 implant anchor because it spans 8 teeth. Moral of the story, research your dentist before you let them do anything to you

How did you find your new dentist?

I just had a bridge done on me last week. The dentist used my original tooth to do it. It was sticking out more than the others in the bottom of my mouth because I don't have any bones in that part of my gum anymore. He pulled it out, filed it down and did his thing in one day. Looks amazing and I would recommend getting a bridge to anyone that needs it!

You shojkd have got implant instead of destroying the two healthy teeth beside the bad one. Now that you got that teeth removed then you will face no tooth Clause from your dental insurance where they won't pay for any work on area that has no tooth. Should've got implant that will keep all your teeth safe.

​@inkbold8511 They probably didn't have a choice. You need to have enough bone to support an implant as the doctor was explaining. Not only that, it also costs approximately $3k per implant. That may have been a reason as well.

​​@wydiacloud7510honey, I was too trust me. I had the same issue with bone loss in the specific area of loose tooth. When I got my braces off years ago, the ortho left the bracket on that tooth for fear she'd accidentally rip the tooth out. Over the years the tooth just deteriorated, and I'm just now starting the bridge process because that tooth is no longer functional. I was 😢 too when they were explaining it to me. Like ANYTHING but that😅. But they just put the temp bridge in and so far it isn't horrible. Took a little less than 2 hrs. Eat soft stuff for about 4 days, otc pain meds and a prescription mouth rinse. I go back in 2 weeks for final bridge placement. Trust God and your dentist. You got this! ETA: the cost (for extraction, bone graft, and bridge) was $2195 if you have to plan around your finances. If you don't need a bone graft, it's probably a little less.

I get the bone transfer surgery , to have enough bone to do the implant, for a front tooth and did not wanted the others affected. The bone retracted, as he said. I wish I knew. ..from fear, did not went for extraction of the root of the broken tooth, got used with the temporary one ..when I went, too late, infection, surgeries..tons of anxiety

Thank you. Just had my front tooth pulled because of infection and bone loss. I'm leaning more to a bridge but your explanation for a single tooth sounds more sensible.

My dentist recommended me doing this for the one missing tooth back of my mouth. As soon as he told me about procedure, i straight up told him no. Its crazy to sacrifice 2 of your good teeth to save one.

I have a permanent bridge. They did it across 3 teeth on the left side, toward the front of my mouth. Im retired, in Danbury, CT. It cost 2700 dollars. Mostly out of pocket. I don't want gaps in my mouth. I got it done , in a dental clinic, run by Danbury Hosp. They did a great job.

Thanks doc, very well explained. I had both upper front tooth broken in youth, left failing at senior age, had to be removed. The possibility was a bridge or implant with crown. At this date crown is placed a day a go and I think it feels good. Surgeon and dentists did a very good job. Yes, it costs money, and I was almost 1 year with missing front tooth. The argument not taking a bridge was from both surgeon and dentist, that the adjacent teeth were not strong enough, special the right upper front tooth, because it als was broken in youth. When dentists fitted the crown on implant he also said, lets do the other front tooth and he replaced the plate (or jacket) on it. Dentist also reminded to keep good mouth health, floss and/or tooth pick. Lets go for it. Bill between 2000 and 2500 euro.

I had my dental bridge done in my country 🇵🇭. My dentist only used one tooth to attach the bridge(meaning, i only have 1 tooth casualty instead of 2) and he did a pretty good job, its been 15 years and its still intact. The bridge is in my upper left canine.

Hello Doc, I have a question for you because I really need/want to get a dental bridge BUT I'm concerned and need your opinion due to my middling tooth (Single tooth) being on the bottom jaw in the front!!... So obviously the teeth aren't flat on top like the back teeth so HOW would this be done AND what material would be used to replace my single tooth??!.. I have looked into a Single Tooth Implant but I simply cannot afford that even though I really just want to go that route!!... So would a Bridge be best ideal for replacing a tooth? Or what??! Very informative just had my temporary 3 unit bridge placed today due to a fractured root.

Just had 2 bridges removed. They were 44 yrs old. A capped tooth under the bridge was just a root & a tooth abcessed. Lots of pain Just let it heal. Thinking of a partial. It is lower molar that we were taking care of. 2,ooo$ each. Now it is 5,000& each.

I have a question in regards to on my bridge that I just had done. How much saliva coming through your Bridges is too much? What I mean is when I'm talking saliva is coming through the spaces and I'm pretty much spitting in people's faces when I'm talking to them and having to constantly wipe my lips. It's almost as if my bridge is not making contact with the gums at all. My dentist said we have to have space in there to clean. I mean floss is not that thick therefore the connection between the bridge and the gums should not have that much space to clean it. It's very uncomfortable they already replaced one of my crowns because there was a big gap and it was causing me pain I just want them to take them all out and redo them again but they keep brushing me off and it's really make me mad because I spent a lot of money on them for them to be pretty much perfect.

With implant, anything can go wrong over time. I've been read numerous studies..

I'm wondering if there is hope for me. I used to have the most beautiful smile. Unfortunately, I suffered from domestic violence and my two front teeth were broken. I received crowns and they lasted 15 years but I later developed bone density. They removed my left front tooth and I received a bone graph. Now the other tooth in the front is weak. I was given a horrible flipper that doesn't match with a gap and I have to take it out to eat. In a public restaurant, I keep a napkin held to my face with the flipper inside the palm of my hand. If I'm approached, I've learned how to smoothly put the flipper back in and wipe my lips as if I didn't want to talk with my mouth full. After 5 years, I just want to smile and feel normal again. Thank you for sharing!

My Maryland Bridge is metal, and before I had it put in I had had a removable dental prosthesis for the one missing incisor. It is a long time ago, but I do recall that after having a 'denture' the Bridge felt much smaller and I very quickly did not notice it.

I’m 16 i have two teeth missing at the top of my mouth (next to the bunny-like teeth…) My top row of teeth has several gaps, BUT i’m going for braces for that… So they are making space for a one tooth bridge on both bunny teeth so i have the two missing ones. So it will be 2 teeth supporting 1 bridge for both sides. When i’m 21 they are recommending to remove the bridge and do implants… I have no idea if the bridges will hold untill my 21 since my orthodontist said they might break/ fall out because they are the teeth i put alot of biting force on…

I need to figure out for my case, i recently lost one front tooth due to an accident it's now one week back, but i don't know what option is suitable. The only scary part of a bridge is the fact that the rest are to be trimmed, it's kind scary and implant sounds good but the costs

Hi . My mother is advised for bridge age 58, 13teeths root canal , upper and lower .The dentist also told huge amount. I was in much confusion since dental bridges fall, decay as read on internet (avg life 5 to 15 yrs). Dentist told ceramic bridges will be lifetime since material used will be resin bonded. But here after watching this video and reading comments, I think it's better to not go for dental bridge, and go for flexible partial dentures. Please advice.

ive been in and out of dentist clinics and have had bridge since i was 9 which i regret. my father made that decision for me without my consent. it could have been avoided by simply removing one tooth instead of affecting my whole front smile. horrible. i reckon i have have these changed 5 times. its so costly and frustrating.... thank you for properly explaining.

This is a hard question to answer online but I would say that veneers require healthy teeth with good enamel in order for the bonding to last for a very long time. People with underbites and worn down teeth are typically not the best candidates for veneers!

It would depend on your dental insurance, & how much they cover. Some dental insurances also have a max $ amount that they will cover/year. Best to call your insurance for that information, as there are so many different companies & plans.

What if you whiten your teeth before getting bridge and then your natural teeth get stained a little bit? So in that case your bridge will no longer match to your natural teeth right? So I guess it would be better not to whiten your natural teeth and then just match the color if you are getting dental bridge. Would that make sense?

So does Medicare/ advantage PPO and Mecaid/Medical cover the brigdes?

I am suppose to confirm what kind of bridge I need going to cost between ₹2000 to ₹3500 per unit...I will be needing 4 units...the preparation was done one month ago and I was with temporary dentures...today final impression was taken...hope my bridge doesn't give post fixing issues atleast for few years.

Thank you very much. I have had a very bad experience my back teeth (top 2 & 3) with a dentist you made a bridge too tight, my teeth shifted and were crossing and to fill a missing tooth that had to be pulled and I was in severe pain. I made him cut out the bridge and kept the 2 healthy teeth sides for crowns, since they drilled half my teeth down to fit the bridge. While that worked out, It cause trauma to yet another tooth and I lost that one. I am 67 with all my teeth but two. Wanted to get this done before I retired. Now Retired I am out two teeth and my bite is off. I no longer have the money to fix it and with what to do about it.

Now I'm confused because one of my tooth got extracted and the tooth Infront of it is healthy but the tooth behind it is having some cavity and strength issues ( parts of the tooth are coming out ) so idk if I should get a bridge or go with implant

I have had a Hybrid Maryland Bridge for 42 years with no problems ... my current Dentist says the reasons are excellent design and workmanship by original Dentist plus the fact I do not have a 'sweet tooth'. Missing front incisor replaced, attached with long cantilever to opposite tooth-behind-canine. And as it was put in under the UK National Health Service it did not cost me a penny (although I appreciate that to a Republican American this means I have Communist Teeth).

I have 2 molar pulled out 2 weeks ago and if I dont take the pills the pain is killing me. Do you think something wrong with my dental work? Please help!

I just got my first bridge at the age of 58 it cost 8k I had to withdraw my superannuation money to get it done, the bridge is 6 teeth long anchored to 3 abutments, I absolutely love the look of it, it feels strange but I will get used to it. I still have to get another one that is 3 teeth long and I'm waiting to get that one done soon, it will cost $4200 australian dollars

@@twinamatsikobrian7146 I have heard of ceramic implants so would love to get one of those instead of a metal one but they don’t seem to be very common at the moment.

Do not remove your teeth. Keep if you can it's better than dentures or implants don't rush if you are not sure. Many dentists don't do their job as an art as they should the shape and the size of theeth matters. every time someone smiles you'll notice, it's not the patient fault but the dentists. I wish all the dentists do their job as an art and as if it was their teeth but there are very few out there. I hope everyone would find one.

@@stresslessmailing4758 It’s my first molar tooth on the bottom set of teeth. Unfortunately I had a failed root canal that was infected so it had to be removed. I don’t think anyone wishes to remove their teeth if it’s not needed but unfortunately I had a lot of unnecessary work done by the NHS dental practise I went to when I was a teenager. Of course when I was younger I didn’t second guess or challenge the dentist. I thought they were being honest. It’s annoying but all I can do now is try and fix the issues I have been left with.

i would love to have a dental bridge

I need an implant In the top left front teeth but this dentist insisted on giving me a bridge. Both side of the missing tooth need caps as rct ie root canal has been done. They said they can't do implant as the lab guys said bridge would be suitable and if they do implant it would be at an angle and it wouldn't give me a strong bight . I am confused.

Get multiple opinions, if you do get a bridge, make sure it's not a traditional one. A Maryland bridge might be the best kind in your case

I have had two failed implant on my front tooth. Now I am considering between a third attempt and a dental bridge.

What if someone has a upper cuspid that is broken off at the gum line? The root is still in and not symptomatic. Would an implant be a good possibility for that?

What is your opinion on putting a 4 tooth bridge on 3 implants? That is what my oral surgeon is suggesting. I lost one tooth due to a massive cyst (golf ball sized), however, the neighboring teeth are loose due to bone loss. The last one was a crown that broke off.

Hello , I recently had a 3 unit bridge on lower incissors , I was missing one congentially . My dentist did root canals on my two abutment teeths which were perfectly fine(without any cavity) before cutting them and installing bridge . But I am reading online that it's not compulsary to do . So I am wondering why did he did that , Are there some advantages of it if we do the RCT before ? or did he just do it to make some money ? I am really feeling bad knowing I have destroyed my other fine teeths as well. Would RCT treated teeth cause problem in future ?

Hello bro .....same with me before putting bridge they did root canal. Just do one this keep care of gums below bridge by brushing twice a day,gum massage mandatory ,once a year dental cleaning otherwise you will get infection inside bridge

Lol I have literally just got in from having the stitches removed. Anyhow I don’t like the idea of destroying good teeth to support my replacement so I would like to go for implants but it’s costly about $8000 Canadian. I have to wait a few months for my bone implants to graft so will have to wait and see how that goes as the implants rely on that. I just have in what they call a flipper right now that I remove at night. It looks great but feels Alien in my mouth. I play the saxophone and can’t play with my flipper in so have to take out and rest mouthpiece on my next tooth over to improvise not a great look but it kinda works for now.
