Dennis Miller was one of the weakest cast members SNL has ever had. He did 0 impressions and couldn't carry a scene if his life depended on it.He was horrible on Monday night football.

Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here, but '90s Dennis Miller would've been mocking New Tens Dennis Miller mercilessly. And NTDM would go on O'Lielly's show and carpet-bomb '90sDM for making a Cecil Turtle joke about Mitch McConnell on The Big Screen, while he barks out his incredibly high-pitched laugh that only dogs can hear, and takes a sip from the water bottle that's been surgically grafted to his hand. Look, I understand that as you get older, you start to realize that your best days are behind you and you'll never be tragically hip and optimistic like you were in your 30s. You get jaded by world events and the nagging, insidious feeling that things are slowly getting worse and unfixable. At some point Jonathan Livingston Seagull stops trying to take that dive into the water, because his little glasses might fall off, he won't be able see that herring that he's aiming for and he'll hit a rock instead. And he decides, "You know what? Maybe it's better to just stay down here and eat fish heads after all." And then he starts to resent the younger gulls who _can_ make the plunge. The sad paradox is that as you get older, the less you have to lose in matters of life and death, but at the same time, the more equity you've accumulated that you don't want to put at risk. So you get more conservative and less fun and fancy-free. You start to envy your younger self, but you realize that if older-you came in contact with younger-you, you'd just spume out of existence like Ron Silver at the end of _Timecop_. Keeping a happy medium between those feelings of bitterness and wistfulness has gotta be as tough as Chris Christie passing up a Burger King. The thing to keep in mind is that young people have been idealistic since the dawn of time, and they've always viewed their elders as old fuddy-duddies, and that's never going to change. And an older man just can't identify with kids, no matter how much stuff he buys at Hot Topic. So don't try. Just let kids be kids and don't try to lecture them on what they ought to be concerned about. 'Course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

+gspendlove Brilliantly done. Another person Miller would have mercilessly mocked and berated was Donald Trump, who he is now a huge supporter of. The fake hair, the fake steaks and water, the vacuous answers, the fraud university, the ridiculous bombast--Miller would have hated Trump and called him a fascist and a buffoon. Miller claims that in 1999 he was heckled by a group of Liberals or something, and so he began questioning his political allegiance, and then he liked the way Bush handed the aftermath of 9/11. Fair enough, but you don't go from that to a complete fire-breathing Conservative that argues in favor of "religious liberty" bills and repealing ObamaCare and applauds union-busting and citizen vigilante armies mass-deporting people. Not unless you are being paid to change that drastically.

Dennis Miller is George Carlin for people who lean right. The fact that most people chide him as unfunny due to his use of references only illustrate their own lack of historical knowledge...they think he's unfunny because they don't "get it." Yes, he leans right (which seems to be a four-letter word in entertainment circles), but the man is poignant, pointed, and very funny (to those who posses enough objectivity to get past their own identity politics). I also love George (who was decidedly left...but also objective enough to turn the microscope on anyone acting like an asshole).
