I used to live in Denmark. Saw the keeper, Lars Hogh, play many times in person. Those were the days. I’m 57 now and going to OB games is my favorite memory as a kid.

La presión y el aislamiento excesivo los llevó a derrumbarse. Con un mejor manejo psicológico probablemente hubieran llegado a la final o hubieran sido los campeones. Pero la historia se escribió así.

First Danish goal was not offside. There was a player in offside position but clearly not interfering with play. Should have been 3 Danish goals

You are going by modern rules. At that time any player who was offside was offside. If was irrelevant if he interfered with play or not

To jest turniej i trzeba umiejętnie gospodarować siłami i trochę pokalkulować, Niemcom nie opłacało się wygrywać z Danią bo po wyjściu z grupy mieli łatwiejszego przeciwnika - Maroko, Dania zajęła 1 miejsce w grupie i w następnej fazie rozgrywek trafiła na silną Hiszpanię i przegrała 1:5

Está es la razón porque Argentina campeono en ese mundial merecidamente. Alemania no convencía del todo como equipo. En el siguiente mundial si lo ganó con merecimientos xq le surgieron una camada de buenos jugadores como Klinsmann, Haessler, Buchwald Buchwald, etc. Aunado los que ya tenían experiencia como Mathaeus Brehme, Voeller...

Sólo dos años despues ya era ese equipo formidable. Recuerdo la Eurocopa del 88, esta Dinamarca, Alemania, España e Italia en el mismo grupo. Tremendo. Asi eran las Euros entonces...

Man muss aber auch die äußeren Umstände (z.B. das heiße Klima und die dünne Höhenluft) berücksichtigen! Klar, daß man da als europäisches Team so großartig tolle, spielerische Leistungen nicht erwarten kann. Aber dafür war es kämpferisch großartig! 👍Dieser Vizetitel für die deutsche Mannschaft ist mehr als verdient, aufgrund der kämpferischen Komponente!

Es cierto, Alemania no convenció como equipo y Argentina ganó merecidamente. Pero hay que tener en cuenta que Schumacher cometió un gran error en esa final. Alemania aún tenía ganas de remontar un 2-0 en contra.

Denmark’s Sepp Piontek allowed his players’ natural desire to beat the Germans, to overcome, what must have been, his better judgement. The players, and population of Denmark wanted to rub the Germans’ noses in it - because of the events between 1939 and 1945. But all they achieved by winning 2-0 was to give themselves a far more difficult path to the final. Had Denmark lost and gone the way of West Germany they could have reached the final.

@@fundhund62 Easier than Belguim and Argentina I would suggest and Germany got to the final as Denmark could have, following the same route.
