Dendrobium amethystoglossum - The amethyst Orchid in full bloom!

Today we take a look at a flowering premiere in my orchid collection, the lovely Dendrobium amethystoglossum!
▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼
This is a species orchid native to the Philippines, more info can be found here www.orchidspec...
The Dendrobium amethystoglossum is a long caned Orchid which produces pendant clusters of small flowers, with a light pink color on the petals and sepals and a vivid magenta on the lip, overall giving a wonderful display when in bloom.
To my delight it does not appear to be fussy orchid, or one reluctant to bloom, I purchased it a few months ago and it did suffer damage in transport.
The flowers, as pretty as they are, are also short lived and non fragrant, or at best have a very mild fragrance.

Does it require a cool dry winter's rest? Or do you keep it watered all winter?

That could be a fungus from over watering in cool conditions. Clean it off and let the medium dry out more between waterings.

Danny, Is Dendrobium is Sympodial or Monopodial? sympodial have new growth on its rhizomes, while monopodial have keiki in mother's stem right so dendrobium is little confusing because it has its own rhizomes for new growth and nodes for keiki.
