My grandfather served in the Ostfront in both WW, as a reserved officer, and he was lucky enough to survive them, so I partly understand the sentiments. I wish Peace and prosperity to Russia, and also that we will never be at war with each other again.

I know about ww2 from books and from grandfather stories (he's still alive btw.) i am for everyone who died in ww2 - for russians, for germans, for everybody! They all was just a humans. peace ;)

My grandpa - father's side - was a WWII and Korea Vet. He passed away - and I never fully got to understand his role in WWII other than being a Cook in Italy. And probably during Korea as well - he was a E6 before they forced him to retire (he had Anger issues). Heard he wanted to be a Truck Driver.

I am not even russian and this song moves me deeply.... Ive always loved studying the Russian Front...... Many Americans here in the states forget how important Russian contribution was......

I admire your respect for Russia considering you are an American... I could be wrong.. No intention of starting an argument but didn't Russia lose 27 million people and USA only 1/2 million? That is not quite a thorough indication of war contributions but..I am not Russian but I see it more like Russia did the work and USA only contributed :)

+blueblossomblues well I think Russian numbers are higher, what I want people to understand most is the suffering of death China, Russia were some of those countries, their battles were some of the most decisive, the battle of Stalingrad for example was a turning point in war, battle of Kursk I believe was largest tank battle. But in general my heart goes to all the armies that lost men, war is ugly and truly no side is the best both commit atrocities

According to en.wikipedia.org/World_War_II_Casualties and a little calculation, the UK, the US, Australia, NZ, Canada, and India combined lost almost 3 million, while the USSR alone saw around 20-27 million perish in the war.
