Dempster Windmill Annu-Oiled #12 Project

I documented putting up an antique Dempster Windmill Annu-Oiled #12 on our property in Idaho - Haven Acres. This was a huge project from start to finish mostly because we started with just a pile bent and broken parts, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

Enjoyed your video very much. I was born in Beatrice in 1937. My Grandfather was plant superintendent at Dempester Mill Manufacturing and my father an engineering draftsman, so I have an inherent interest your mill. Thanks

Great video. I just removed a no. 12 off a 100 year old cattle ranch here in California. The mill was put up in 1929 brand new. It's a complete windmill but need some simple repairs, like replacing the bearings, etc. Once it's done its going next to our barn. I had no idea what sweet little find I had until I googled Dempster Windmill. Side note, my dad was born in 1929. He'll get a kick out of see one again.

Looks good! I'm glad you put a pull out lever on it. Without it in a high wind it will destroy your windmill. Just make two heavy wire rings to hold your lever up or down. I just got my Flint and Walling up this week. It's going to be a working windmill. Pumping water from my well. I raised mine with the motor and fan. On my 45 foot tower. It's great to see people putting them back up. Hopefully someday you'll be able to get it spinning. If you get everything working it will take care of itself. You will only lock it down to work on it. Like everything else there are people who make them their hobby. And would be glad to help you.

If you want your windmill to function in the wind even if it doesnt pump water, make the central shaft of wood or a 1/2 inch pipe with wooden croos beams centering it....Then you can hang some kind of weight on the end simulating the strength of pumping....that way the windmill will not function at such high speeds..also you can brake it a bit so that the vane isnt so perpendicular to the wheel...that will reduce the speed...Have been repairing and installing windmills for 40 years in Argentina...

I seem to also think Dempster Windmills and Southern Cross Windmills were similar or identical to Aermotor Windmills.

um well sorry but um having stationary blades on windmills can cause the blades to bend and collapse
