For the record, my suspenders have clips that actually attach to a belt. So apparantley I'm not the only one to sport them like this. They were designed to attach to a belt. lol I love all the comments about my outfit. Thanks for everyone's kind comments. Subaru Mike!

Just because they have them doesn't mean you should wear them. Belt and suspenders is a big fashion faux pas. But I bet your customers get a big kick out of your horrible fashion choices.

For the record, Mr. Wright, those 'clips' are not actually made to be attached to a belt. Rather, they simply clip onto the trousers one is wearing. Either the belt or the suspenders; to be wearing both is just a display of a lack of menswear etiquette.

That's a pretty damn cool vehicle. A nice blending of car and truck in a stylish, compact, and practical package. Why aren't there more vehicles designed like that?

there are a bunch of them for sale in vermont new yourk and new hampshire but they go for like 4-9 grand a bit steep compared to the outbacks and foresters of the same year.

I find it funny that someone would buy this, then buy a topper and sleep in the back. It is a cool car for its uniqueness and rarity, but if you wanna sleep in the back get an outback, theyre PERFECT for sleeping

Still, some may want to remove the top at some point so they can still use the full bed. Also, toppers can be more versatile. And hey, bajas are far coolers then outbacks anyways.

I have a Forester and a Wrx. Id buy a baja long before an outback.

Get one with a 5 speed manual and turbo and you're golden.

Well this just reinforced my desire to get one of these puppies. Thanks Mike, I never knew the back seat region did such cool things. And that license plate deal for the bed-extender has the most forethought I've ever seen in vehicle construction.

it's pretty sad that there aren't more vehicles like this. Not everyone wants or needs a massive truck (which most trucks these days are).... but people could also benefit from the functionality of a bed. It's a no brainer. I'm routing for a baja reboot/ comeback. also routing for small midsize trucks like the ranger to return.

I've always loved these but I tend to like unusual vehicles. One thing I learned when these were still at Subaru dealerships is that if the alarm is set and you open the tailgate, the alarm goes off.... I am so sad that these were not a bigger hit when they were still in production, I did not know about many of the cool features that you demonstrated here but wow, it seemed that Subaru thought of everything! It's hard to believe that this one had over 100k miles, it definitely must have been cared for by the previous owner. I am sure the new owner is enjoying it. Thanks for the demo!

Because he is reviewing a car/truck/suv .... So Subaru can't decide what it's... so He could not decide on belt or suspender..

Show the storage container behind rear seat where the jack and tools are placed, also show how you lower the spare-tire from the bottom of bed.

I'd some 35inch tires 3inch lift & it'll look good no doubt did it for my tacoma now it looks decent

Can be bought with turbo ej25 stock. Pretty sure baja was only sold in North America. Which is odd. Usually we get the worst of Japanese cars, and ususlly never get utes.

Why does Subaru not have a truck-like this? Astounding. The market lags almost 10 yrs for what people want & desire. Amazing that car companies are so dense..

So, why isn't this truck continuing to be marketed in the U.S.? It wasn't until last month when I asked a sales agent directly, why the Baja was discontinued, that they said the 2019 PU is being readied for market. She had no clue that the Baja existed at all, let alone that it's been around for 40 or so years.

Pretty cool. Handles like a car but can haul a few things

forgot to fold down the license plate. when operating with the tailgate down, the license plate bracket pivots out 90° so the plate can still be visible with the gate down.

I really love the design of the Subaru Baja. I want to collect one for sure. This one looks like it's in perfect condition but too many miles for me. After several mishaps--I refuse to buy a used car with over 100k miles on it from now on.

Nirvezz the original concept baja, called the STX I believe, was set up that way. However, I think it compromised much of the cars structural integrity so they went with the smaller pass through door.

you did quite a hard sell on an aftermarket part(the bed extender) there Mike!! That's not doing much for sales on a stock Baja tho, is it??

I just bought a 05 baja with 444,744 miles

bed extensions can be put on EVERY REAL TRUCK

I love *compact* trucks. Emphasis on compact. The Tacoma looks like the smallest truck on the market rn and it's too big for me. I really like the Subaru baja and am looking into getting one in the near future. I wish there was a compact truck model on the market right now.

+mipmipmipmipmip well if it's 1 part fashion advice then it's another 9 parts common sense... suspenders work by holding your trousers up while keeping it loose around the waist. belts keep your trousers up by compressing your waist. they negate the purpose of each other when worn at the same time. it always reminds me of 80s cop movies with the armpit holsters.

This vehicle is literally the automotive version of your eccentric Bachelor uncle. By the way, what this salesman lacks in taste he exudes in courage. Although, I would still recommend that he hire a lady sitter to dress him.

Total production was about 34,000 units. That's what he means by rare. Not rare like 500 were made so it counted as a production vehicle.
