demonstration of exothermic and endothermic reactions
exothermic reactions are the ones that release energy to the surroundings. during these kind of reactions the temperature increases and the container where the reaction is taking place becomes very hot. On the contrary, endothermic reactions have to absorb heat from the surroundings to start, during these kind of reactions the temperature decreases and the container where the reaction is taking place becomes very cold.

This is super. I'm an old Chemistry teacher in the north of Scotland. Thank you for this demo for the COVID 19 lockdown. I will use it for my pupils.

Can you tell me how to study chemistry
Thank u. The formation of ice proved the endothermic reaction so well
Congratulations, excellent demonstration
2 NH4Cl + Ba(OH)2 --->2NH3 + BaCl2 + 2H2O the first, I suppose gives NH3 in the lab with the extremelly smelling of ammonia. Nice experiment. Thats the only way (real time experiments) to have enthusiastics students, Tnx a lot.(from an Hellenic (Greek) high school.
Hi, thx! May I use a part of this footage in another popular science youtube video? (with obviously a card, a link in the description and a footer on screen to reference this channel and video)
It's amazing what science can do
Good job 👍
For the second exothermic experiment, powdered aluminum can be added. The temperature achieved will be much higher 😁
Wow thanks for telling
thanks, i would like to know how much time is it take to the solution (cooling experiment) to come back to room temperature? and if i try to stir it again would it become cooling again? or if i always stir would it stop fooling? thanks a lot and waiting for your answers.
That first experiment was very cool
good job!!!
Nice experiment mam 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What happens when you keep on mixing calcium carbonate and sulfuric acid
Thanks so much. We done it in high school chemistry class but I was scare on large scale of uncontrollable side effect so I stop investigating
Nice
Isn't the 1st demo an exothermic? because the temp continued to drop so the water must have released its heat?
As a 6th grade student I actually learned alot!

Please give in grams or other units your formula by ratio please.
What are the chemicals being mixed here? I'm trying to use this video in my high school science class, but can't quite hear the names of the chemicals?

Barium Hydroxide and Ammonium Chloride...Initially the lump solids taken is Ba(OH)2 and afterwards the powdered solid poured onto the beaker placed on the wood in NH4Cl2..Hope you got your answer sir
Thanks

this video was up to marks. Miss how can we conclude the reaction in terms of energy from surroundings. More energy in reactant and product. Please can you guide me.

In an exothermic reaction, considering the reaction is a “system”, the energy flows from the system into the surroundings. In an endothermic reaction, the energy flows from the surrounding into the system.

for the endothermic reaction: the reactants have lower energy than their products. so they absorb energy from surroundings. for the second exothermic reaction: the reactants have energy higher than their products and they release this energy while changing to products.

Can someone please answer my question? In the first endothermic reaction, the reactants absorb heat and the enthalpy of the products increase ie internal energy increases but why does temperature drop?!!!

Energy needed for the reaction is absorbed by the reactants from the surrounding environment. So, whatever temperature showed on measuring device is of surrounding not of material it self. And, that's why it shows lowering in temperature because, energy of surrounding is absorbed by reactants. Whatever i write above is as per my understanding, Thank you
@MegaFW

The temp you measured is not from reaction but the surrounding, if reaction absorb heat then the heat of surrounding is decreased
@amymelton3276

The heat energy goes from the end of the probe into the solution. That makes the probe colder, and that shows as the temperature on the screen.
@nikan4now

@@amymelton3276 No but the probe and the products are in equilibrium (law of thermo) so the temperature of the products is lower too. But in endothermic reactions, the products are at a higher enthalpy. That makes me confused.

Ok
I think on your first expreiment that you did for freezing the water into ice is not endothermic. that is called exothermic because water releases head into its surrounding, its temperature lowers, so its freezing point and ice is formed
