    Why was Akaza suffering and bleeding? All demons have Muzan's blood, Muzan is the only one who can kill demons, Muzan sent an air pressure to Akaza, that made him alter the cells inside Akaza's body and that made Akaza feel a lot of pain. Even if they are upper rank demons, Muzan can make them suffer and kill them very easily.

    9:20 “Do we have to watch this again?” In the real world it had been a year since the movie disappeared from the cinema, so I think they included this for people who skipped the Mugen Train arc. A good argument to avoid newer shows as an anime fan is all the waiting between seasons! The wait seems to get longer ever year, too. Gone are the days when a show would have a 6 month run, then a 6 month break, and then back for another 6 month Season 2.

    Since nobody mentioned yet, in the data book, shinobu found out the tengen incident later on at the butterfly mansion and was revealed that the two almost had a dispute about it. I just wished there was an extra scene about it animated bec that would be so satisfying. Tbf, tengen really has a jerk side. Regardless of how we view it, period sexism, culture, and all. Goes to show that Hashiras are not that all perfect decision and attitude wise. Contrasts to how they were portrayed in s1.

    oh nope I won't defend his actions but I will say that Demon Slayer does a great job of taking characters that have their faults or seem very surface level and revealing them to be deep interesting characters. I didn't care for Tengen either when I first met him but by the end I understood his character, he is definitely a "don't judge a book by it's cover" person and I grew to care for him. I really hope we get these deep character dives with the other Hashira because not gonna lie my first impressions of most of them were not the greatest lol. They looked "interesting" but that was about it for me. Giyu is really cool of course and I didn't come around to Shinobu until Tanjiro's conversation with her on the roof revealing she hides all her anger for demons behind a façade. The persona she uses is that of her older sister so in a way she lives on but she truly isn't like her sister in reality. And Rengoku quickly became a beloved character before they ripped my heart out lol, I cried so much in the theater watching the movie and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

    I think the disciplinary spank was meant to show what kind of a character Tengen is. He grew up in a harsh fucked up environment, so it's understandable why he would have this no-bullshit attitude. He's a flawed character, and that's what I love him for. He can be nice and wholesome too, but the fans who always try to defend his "questionable" actions need to understand he's not an inspirational, kind and fluffy mentor like Rengoku. He's more like a strict dad or uncle. He gets angry, impatient and doesn't beat around the bush. Even if he's cool with you, he won't hesitate to beat yo ass if you question his authority or irritate him in any way lol. Yeah, some people take his comedic assholery way too seriously but whatever, they eventually get to see he's not a bad person and warm up to him. I personally fell in love with his character since his first introduction, I love his strong personality and charisma, but I understand it's not for everyone, and that's perfectly fine. Btw, kinda funny how the whole (Western) community freaks out over Tengen slapping a teen on the butt and calls him a child abuser, but praises Kagaya who recruits kids to fight and get massacred.... I can't even lmao.

    kinda funny that not only "in the West" Tengen was seen in bad light in this appearance, because in Japan they called him "セクハラ柱", which means "the sexual harassment hashira". and even in the same scene the characters called him "pervert". so you're wrong lmao.

  • @nooneimportant4961

    @nooneimportant4961

    @@felipeaquitral Well of course there will be some Japanese people calling him a perv, but most comments I've seen (at least on youtube) were saying that it wasn't perverted, just a punishment. Or that he jokingly used her as a kotsuzumi drum. The characters called him a pervert because they misunderstood him and thought he was kidnapping the girls for malicious reasons. It's a comedy scene, why would you take it seriously lol. My point still stands, if Tengen is a "child abuser" then Kagaya should've been called a psychopath, yet I'm 99% sure it never crossed people's minds.

  • @felipeaquitral

    @felipeaquitral

    @@nooneimportant4961 of course anyone can understand that he was "punishing" her, but it's still SH not dissimilar to an officer in the military spanking a new recruit to "punish" her. 1) you have no consent 2) you're not even her parent to "punish" her (and even then it would be wrong) 3) she's underage 4) it's not even "funny" and it's extremely cliché and unnecessary. he could've smacked her on the head like Tanjirō hit Kotetsu with a finger on S3 or smt like that. and stop with the Kagaya stuff, you're not even against children fighting demons, you just want to "expose" supposed "double-standars" xd and you wanna know what's the teeny tiny difference? consent. in this fantasy world, kids and adults join the Corps by their own volition to fight demons, Aoi didn't sign for a grown man to spank her, even joking. and no one says that for that Tengen is a s3xval pr3dator or smt, we still love him, it's just a weird scene. and nah, you're backtracking now saying " _some_ japanese blahblah", but your "western audiences freaked out!" sounds a lot like the generic "tHiS wOkE wEsTeRn aUdiEnCEs tHaT dOnt LeT mE eNjOy AnImeeEeeE" cry of an anime fan on a yt comment.

It can't be helped Akaza thought the Hashira must be the priority, not "weak-ling" Tanjiro. No one except himself could know what Muzan think, so he must say what he wants them to do. remember that tengen is a Hashira , he would be like a general in Army , and Aoi wasnt obeying a direct order to go on a mission , he need to give her some sort of punish for that , he could choose worst ones but choose one with no real consequence to her but still accomplish his duty to disciplinate. Japanese culture takes all that to another level with how they have a very harsh culture about discipline. overall Tegen is one of the most carismatic hashiras , its a common trend of the show to give a bad light to a new hashira at first. Remember that Tomioka tried to kill nezuko first, then shinobo tried too, rengoku did not agree with the master to allow nezuko to live , but after some screen time we get to know them better and love them all.

    I completely agree that what Tengen did was not right. First of all, sexual or not, it is abuse. Especially since he is not her parent. Like he said, he's the senior, meaning this is equivalent to a boss spanking his underaged employee. Even if we assume its for discipline, its still wrong. How people are defending it, is just confusing to me. As an asian, I can see how people claim it to be a traditional way of disciplining, but to me personally it did nothing but make me fear my father for many years during my childhood. Fear is not "discipline".

    I meant you have also take in consideration the era and when Demon Slayer takes place (between 1912 to 1926) This story is not happening in our modern society. It was probably pretty commun for a mentor to spank a disciple as punishment. You can't make a parallel today with a boss and his employee.

  • @joshiesushi

    @joshiesushi

    @mickaellandry9726 That is taken into consideration. In some parts of the world, at the moment, and in the past, slavery was also considered normal. However, looking at it throigh modern lenses, we can see it's wrong. Similar to the whole grooming of young girls to be professional consorts. OR a senior disciplining an underaged subordinate. I don't hate Tengen. I don't hate that he was portrayed this way, but what grinds my gears is when fans excuses the behavior by saying it's the product of the time. You can be okay with a character's portrayal, but still think their actions are wrong. And it is clearly wrong, simple as that.

    @@joshiesushi I get what you mean but... Sweden was the first in the world to implement a ban on corporal punishment in 1979. Corporal punishment was permitted in Irish schools until 1982. *I cannot condemn with the same severity a universally accepted spanking committed by a mentor on his discipline in the 1910s to a spanking taking place in our time.* The mentalities on the subject have evolved in 100 years and it is rather unfair to ignore the customs of the time to condemn Tengen’s gesture. It is not a question of defending the character at all costs but of placing the story in its temporal context.

    @mickaellandry9726 Again, I am not hating on Tengen. I'm saying I get why he did it and contextually, I get why he wasn't condemned more than needed by Tanjiro and the gang. I get that, it's just that every time a reactor comments on how wrong his actions are, the entire fanbase makes up all the excuses to justify his actions. (Also to add, they start saying it's a cultural disconnect and that westerns are too triggered) As I took it, Kat and Sonny are just against his actions. They didn't say that he is a bad character or any more unrealistic because of it. Tengen's actions are realistic for the time period and culture. Look you guys try too hard to try to change their opinion, if they don't like that slap then that's fine.. everyone got their own opinion.., but maybe just dislike the act.. not the Hashira itself.. me too personally don't really like that slap, it's just weird and seem unnecessary.. but I like Tengen in general as a whole..

    While the “treatment of women” in this show is traditional, it is loyal to the time period this show exists in. Although some of us may find it triggering, we also appreciate the realism in the story-telling of a time where Japanese traditions were intact and embedded in the fabric of society

    I feel like commenters can spare the Tengen white knighting. Let the storytelling do that for them, trying to convince them early will just give more reasons to not like Tengen lol. I was spanked when I was a child, and don’t really condemn it. I read the manga and watched the anime. I don’t think Tengen is amazing, but he’s nice I guess lol

    First time I saw this I definitely thought huh wtf when Tengen spanked the girl too.. but i kinda let it go as its animated and anime.. 'culture' to some extent.. so many animes ive watched have that one character who is.. well perverted. I think they are supposed to be quirky or funny as its animated, you just know that (hopefully) no normal person would EVER do something like that IRL which makes it ridiculous and almost comical? Like when he threw the girl off the building. Definitely get your reaction though it is.. quite a bold thing to make a character do but I wouldnt read too much in to it. Well you are already further ahead now anyway and hopefully like him as much as I do as a Hashira!

    It is sadly an anime thing to portray stuff like that as comical, it seems. But yes it didn’t take long for us to change our tune about him, and now we really like his character 👍

    i think those who find that sexual are in the wrong. Tengen has zero sexual thought about it , it was just a discplinary spank . No matter the gender. True gender equality in a sense. He could be even harsh tbh , Sanemi , the wind hashira would have thrased her like a pig , if he had been in his place , he already showed his displeasure on how weak the new corps member are. . They are in the field of work ,where they can be killed . Tengen let her slide easily tbh . You forgot how scared those kakushis were when Tanjiro was talking back to hashiras , they were telling how scary Hashiras are .

    Kagaya letting kids and teenagers join the demon slayer corps and die on the battlefield in the most gruesome ways possible is perfectly fine, such a good leader! Tengen slapping Aoi? That's child abuse, unforgivable! Lmao. This fandom, man.

    @@nooneimportant4961 😂😂😂 ok .your point is more solid. But initially only those people who were either affected by demons or loathed demons joined the corporation like Tanjiro . But people like Zenitsu start appearing more recently ,cuz people like his grandpa sensei start searching for their successors .

    @@Youalrightboi Oh don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with kids fighting demons, it's a shounen manga after all. I'm just calling people out on their double standards. I mean, just because those kids were affected by demons and want to take revenge or help or whatever, doesn't mean the adults should let them join the corps and get massacred on the battlefield, right? If Tengen is called a child abuser because he disciplined Aoi, then Kagaya is a fucking psychopath, yet the outrage is nowhere to be found lol.

    First of all, as always I love yours reactions 🙌 That's being said, speaking of spanking, Sweden was the first in the world to implement a ban on corporal punishment in 1979. Corporal punishment was permitted in Irish schools until 1982. *I cannot condemn with the same severity a universally accepted spanking committed by a mentor on his discipline in the 1910s to a spanking taking place in our time.* Demon Slayer takes place from 1912 to 1926. The mentalities on the subject have evolved in 100 years and it is rather unfair to ignore the customs of the time to condemn Tengen’s gesture. It is not a question of defending the character at all costs but of placing the story in its temporal context.

    Please don't get me wrong I do not deny the bad nature of spanking but the author Koyoharu Gotouge, the woman who wrote the story faithfully transcribes the habits of the time through his characters. I won't spoil anything but you will discover over the story of Demon Slayer some customs that no longer take place today. Wrong or good, it was how the society behaved back then. Same logic for instance with gender role when women could not work and vote. It was wrong in any sense but...the reality at that time ps : I can't wait to watch your futures reactions specially about Tengen and Zenitsu

    I give you the advice not to take importance to some comments, the Anime has many fans who are not going to accept criticism and it is a waste of time to argue. you are correct in what you say but it is better not to respond to negative comments or comments that are against what you think. is waste time...👍🔥

    Had no issue with the slap. I got whopped as a kid when i cursed, had bad grades or acted out of line. And i usually got more than just one with the belt. I took it as discipline myself from my own bias. Good different take tho

    Most people seems to forget that the Demon Slayers Corps are a military organization, what Tengen did is not SA is typical punishment for disobeying direct orders from a superior ! In fact Tengen is so nice that he only punished Aoi like that, she could have suffered a much worse punishment.

    I think you gave a lot of importance to a simple spanking, the goal of the scene was simply to be funny and give us an introduction to Uzui's personality, much more relaxed and informal (in contrast to Rengoku), I personally don't mind and It didn't seem inappropriate to me.

    In Japan military they have to wear needles in their suits to keep their posture correct you can get in a lot of trouble in todays time if your disobeying some one thts ranked above you in Japan tivthis day. Japan is completely different from America and other places so no he doesn’t have to change his ways bc he’s from Japan. By their laws there you can still slap a female or male on the butt in Japan if there acting bad to this day in Japan.
