I’m glad you liked the album. Gorillaz is such a weird and amazing band sonically. Sometimes they are punk or funk or hip hop or electronica. Often times they are a combination of those and more but at the same time seemingly no genre. Regardless, what is crazy is a gorillaz song always sounds like a gorillaz song despite sounding like no other song ever made.

This album was SO important to me. I discovered it in middle school (I'm 31 now lmao) when I was working at a local radio station. I listened to it so much, they let me keep the CD. Honestly such a huge impact on my music taste.

This album was foundational to me too. I argued with a friend that the lyrics to feel good Inc on guitar hero were wrong because words like "chocolate attack" and "cheddar headed" but now that I've heard more De La Soul I'm thinking I was dead wrong 🤣. they really are so close to gorillaz in so many ways

this album is so so good, i feel like it was really popular when it was released but has sort of been forgotten as time has passed, which is very odd to me. i think it gets a little overshadowed by the animated band gimmick instead of being remembered for what it actually was, a weird genre-blending masterpiece full of ideas and talent. and as a side note, i think every planet we reach is dead is one of the most evocative song titles ever, you can just feel an entire story and mood in those six words before you even hear the song

This time the album has a definite message. Damon has said that as a whole it is meant to a depiction of a night, a journey through a night, in which each track represents a confrontation with a personal 'demon', btw I copy and paste this from google but yeah this is what demon days is about just to let u know.

I hope you're still checking out these comments, because I have an answer for the meaning of the album. The entire album is a metaphor for every fear or personal problem Damon Albarn has, and he voices it though the characters that make up the 4 cartoon characters, who have their own side of the story. But that's a whole different lore apart from the lyrics. So ya. Each song has a deeper meaning to a Demon of Damon. Like oh Green World being about his fear of global warming, and Kids With Guns about school shootings, ect... And by the end Damon has overcome his fears to this warm feeling. At least that's how it was explained to me by a critique. Btw, El Manana is Spanish, pronounced El Manyana

one of my friends had a theory connecting most of of the Demon Days songs Demon Days has kind of a story that ties songs and I'm gonna attempt to explain it In Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head "Monkey" is a volcano that erupts In Don't Get Lost In Heaven 2-D says the name of the song, indicating he may have saw it erupt In Every Planet We Reach Is Dead he says it's getting hard to see the sun coming through, possibly from the ash of Monkey in Demon Days he says it's cold inside, possibly because the sun is blocked and can't warm earth I guess in O Green World he doesn't want the earth to desert him now, possibly because the world is ending Last Living Souls could be because few people are left on the world and Gorillaz is some of them El Manana might be about 2-D coping about the inevitable And White Light is probably just Murdoc acting normal, getting so drunk he doesn't even understand the reality of what's happening Dirty Harry is about war and maybe that's why they were mining the mountain, for resources for the war [and in All Alone they talk about being all alone, chemicals (possibly from the war), and "pushing a blade is" (could be also about the war or suicide)] November Has Come has slight dark undertones about shootings idk about the rest of the songs this is incredibly far fetched yes I thought of this in the shower ps, the stuff in brackets is what i added

NPR has called her the "best singer-songwriter of the 21st century". You probably won't recognize her name, but you'll definitely recognize her husband's: Andy Samberg of SNL fame.
