@@Winter808az sure can. In 1945 or 46 two scientists, Harry Daghlian and Louis Slotin, we're working with a 14 lb plutonium core nickname the demon core. They would hold the two halves of the sphere apart with a flat head screwdriver coaxing it closer and closer to super criticality. Well experimenting with it they would call what they were doing tickling the dragon's tail. A joke pointing out the recklessness and dangerousness of what they were doing. Finally the screwdriver slipped out completely causing it to go super critical in a blue flash. When this happened Louis Slotin said"well that does it" referring to the immense amount of radiation they had all been exposed to.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? The smaller the gap between the two Halfs if the close the core is to the critical State. So it should be affecting the camera right from the start of the video

Problem with that is that Weapons-Grade Pu 239 is a weak alpha emitter ...you can have a sphere of it in your bare hands and it wouldn't harm you at all, at least not if it's either a critical mass or it has impurities in it like Pu 240 or other Beta- and/or Gamma ray emitters
