Democracy Was Always The Answer

Ойын-сауық

"There's never been a millisecond in American history when white lives didn't matter." As much as we might not believe it, Democracy was always the answer. Michael Harriot breaks down exactly why the answer could have been in front of our noses this entire time. theGrio Daily is an original podcast by theGrio Black Podcast Network. #BlackCultureAmplified

Michael, thank you. This was absolutely brilliant. A nice wake-up call as my head and heart was filled this morning with junk and nonsense as to why so much of this so called democracy seems to be going to hell. In other words why we can't have good things. It was like achieving enlightenment after finally solving a Zen Buddhist koan :-)

Fabulous as usual. I love that King quote at the end on the Emergency of Now. Yes, it’s obvious right, that black Americans have been agitating for democracy since at least the 1740s? Seriously, when I read about freed black Americans agitating for the vote in the 1740s, and then discovered that 9 or the 13 original states saw freed blacks voting by 1834 (not 1934 but 1834), I thought, Whoa, we’ve been moving backwards and painting over the idea that black Americans didn’t vote or were just given the right to vote in 1965. But then again, when hasn’t the contributions of black Americans not suffered setbacks and been erased?

Seriously? Truman was NOT "forced" to segregate the armed forces. He did it by signing an Executive Order. It is a shame you do not know basic American History.
