He (or at least his character) flat out admits that in "The Review must Go On", but he also adds that he now has more empathy for filmmakers.

The moral of this story: Always a Bridesmaid. Never a Bride.

In my opinion, the real reason Demo Reel failed was because Doug and Rob expected to create a new popular webshow overnight. It should really have begun as a series of sketches - ten minutes each at most - to give the show time to find its feet and see the audience reaction to it. Meanwhile, Nostalgia Critic and other Walker Brother stuff continues until Demo Reel has developed enough to become the main focus for TGWTG. The cold-switch we got was always going to be jarring.

So let me get this straight, THIS is the brand new thing that nobody has ever done? Movie Parodies? You're doing something that's been done for decades, Doug.

What is demo reel? Dead is what it is.

Doug found a way to fit a little bit of demo reel into the new NC videos. You can tell with the sketches and the same actors from demo reel are there...well one of them is

But in Demo Reel, Malcolm and Rachel had actual personalities to work with. In the new NC, they're basically just props (aside from the clipless reviews whether you like them or not).

This show is brutally unfunny with the most tired jokes imaginable. Making fun of Batman's voice, making fun of Bane's voice, ghost busters jokes, Bill Cosby jokes and what's worse the guy doesn't act like or sound anything like Bill Cosby. Plus the running time of the show is painfully stretched out to about a half hour. I love the Nostalgia critic but this show is just bad

Considering that Doug Walker and a bunch of people on TGWTG make their careers out of watching terrible movies, the "go watch something else" argument is invalid. Also, how else and I supposed to give feedback/critisize something if I don't watch it? There's no point in making something if the only people who watch it are ass kissers who give nothing but praise.

And thus, began the fall of Doug Walker, which culminated into the Not So Awesome document.

All he did was incorporate "Demo Reel" into the newer version "Nostalgia Critic." And the show's much worse now because of it.

There is a world of difference between making comedy skits with your pals to put online and actually producing films professionally. No matter what you think of his NC episodes - personally, I found To Boldly Flee as funny as trapping my hand in a car door - the way Demo Reel died a painful death after half a dozen weak, uninspired and unfunny episodes show that Doug Walker simply bit off more than he could chew.

Doug addressed this on his Facebook. He actually wanted to do this even before "Be Kind Rewind" came around.

I feel sorry for Doug. Even though Demo Reel wasn't successful, it was a shame he had to cancel it because it was something he wanted to do for a long time.

I watched a few episodes, and I thought Demo Reel was a clever idea. I feel the reason it wasn't as successful as it could have been, they did not have the marketing or a big enough target audience. There is a difference between reviewing good/bad movies and recreating them yourself. I feel as if Nostalgia Critic had "too big" of a following and most people did not want to see that character just go away. We all remember how big of a deal the return of the Critic was last year. Even though he was gone for four months, people were anxious to see him return.

When Rooster Teeth made an original IP, they made RWBY. When CA tried to make an original IP, they made Demo Reel. Speaks for itself really.

This new show he is making now looks pretty cool! I hope this is as enjoyable as Nostalgia Critic.

At least James was a film maker his whole life and actually has some production value, Doug was probably nothing before he became popular and he is certainly not a film maker. AN ABSOLUTELY NOT A DIRECTOR, maybe I'm just more mad because I've been through film school and I've been a film maker for half my life and I can see through him, but jeez I definitely agree with you man.

It wasn't even a quarter of a year!

And yes, I realize it's a trailer, but I think there have been some trailers that have also like, just shown examples of what will show, but aren't actually going to show.

I think Doug (and his bro) are quite intelligent and funny so I thought Demo Reel would be decent or maybe great. I couldn't believe it when it was just terrible costumes and Wayan Brothers-level parody humour. I'm sorry to hear Doug lost a lot of money over this but I'm really glad NC is back, even if he includes those awful, overly long skits with his mates. As long as we get more Doug Walker vids, I'm set!

Doug, The truest fans will support you regardless what you put out on the internet. Think of it this way, 5 years ago we only knew you for the 5 Second Movies. Imagine what the next 5 years will be like. I will see your first Demo Reel episode tomorrow! :)

I'm really gonna give this a chance, I've accepted that NC has ended and I'm ready to have a weekly show again staring Doug that I can look forward too. Though the idea doesn't seem very interesting, I'm excited.

To some people who don't like Demo Reel,well...if you don't,then that's fine.Remember though,Respect what Doug wants to do,and this is what he wants to do with his own show now. it was boring, uninteresting, not funny, and tried too hard to do drama. nobody wanted that.

Why are people still complaining about the end of NC? He had an amazing run and while it is sad that it's over, I'm so excited for this. It looks hilarious and I really like the concept. Can't wait for October 30!

Is it just me or does Tacoma Narrows look like a young Tracy Morgan? Also I think this one might be decent. I do miss Nostalgia Critic, but I'm more than willing to give this a chance and we all should too. It hasn't even come out yet and people are already judging it. Let's give it a chance.

I can't tell if people are in denial or stubborn. That doesn't mean that this show may fail because of it but still.

He may be still trying to accept that though. I'm still surprised that was what he really wanted to put all his time and energy into, that it was planned out for a long time (years), and that is the ultimate product that came out of it. Not even half a year passes and it tanks so hard that they had to bring NC back so that the site can start getting the desired traffic and revenue again. The guys made a LOT of money off of NC, can't get rid of it if other ideas can't make a fraction of it.

I'll admit, he is using them a bit too much in the Nostalgia Critic series when they could probably work in another sort of skit on the site.

He focuses a heck of a lot more on making jokes about something when he could probably make a living reviewing a bunch of good movies instead of junk more than 95% of the time. I think that would be a detour that a lot of his fans would welcome. After all, he said that whenever he apologized for doing a commentary, people said, "Don't apologize for the commentaries."

The trailer doesn't look great, but it certainly doesn't look bad. I'm definitely watching this, and I hope the NC replacement is a good one.

Actually this reminds me of a little known Portuguese comedy series: "Paraíso Filmes". Which are a group of amateur film makers making parodies of popular films, although the portuguese version did parodies of classic movies, like Indiana Jones, Jaws, Saturday Night Fever, etc...

Is everyone still crying and being babies over the fact that NC finished? The show had a good run but just accept the fact that it's over. It's just an internet show.
