Second year finished back in April! Here are some of my favourite animated works from this past year :'D All of my homework from this past year (including life drawings, layout, assignments I couldn't include in this video and more) are available on my patreon.
This entire year was online, and I was a bit relieved when I heard that news because I was initially scared about the sheer workload of second year;; luckily some of it was cut out, but also some of the good stuff had to be cut out too, like field trips, seeing friends, movie nights, and the list goes on :'( But I tried to make the most out of what I had :D And also I'm really proud of myself for prioritizing my classes more this year asdfjkl; as you can see there were definitely classes where I submitted the bare minimum and spent my time working on homework that I enjoyed! This was also the first year I ever got 8+ hours of sleep every night since middle school and I felt great :'D
For any incoming second years, manage your time, get sleep, and just be aware that 80% of your assignments now involve animation and there will be times you realize you're animating every day of the week in different mediums so... yeah take care of yourselves asdfjkl;

Hey I just wanted to ask, since im in my junior year of hs, what kind of prep do you need for animation school? It's my dream, and watching you progress is so inspiring. Im stuck in AP and stem classes so im curious as to what your highschool experience was like. Thanks!

Hi! I talk about it more in my other video :) kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJ123Mh9nMXNXbA.html I attended an AP school too, but I ended up not taking any AP stem courses in my last year of hs because it would be useless in the long run. Your time is limited, so ask yourself what is important to you and which courses are going to help you on that journey. (I only took AP french and AP history in my last year of hs). Outside of school, I took realism classes and portfolio prep at a studio. So every week, I had 2 hours of realism, 4 hours of portfolio prep, and 3 hours of life drawing (the portfolio studio offered life drawing as well). I did this for about 3 years (so I started in grade 10) in addition to making personal art. Near the end of portfolio season, the hours jumped up to 8-16 hours of portfolio prep and maybe 6-9 hours of life drawing a week. That's just what I did as "prep", it's not the only way, I have plenty of friends who didn't go to any kind of portfolio prep and are doing great in the program. Prep also isn't going to guarantee you getting in the school. It's highly dependent on what you put into it. Not everyone at the studio I went to got in. Hope this helps!
